It was supposed to be the followup to ICBYD, but was mothballed for some reason.

Well I found a site with some samples of it. They sound totally legit don't know how they got there though.

Aphextwin.nu has sample clips, too! Infact, lots of people have Melodies from Mars on CD-Rs.

It's legit. There were demo cassettes made and some of them "escaped."

It's awesome, reminds me of the Earthbound SNES soundtrack.
But he made the right decision scrapping it... no way does it live up to ICBYD. Big step down. It seems like a cutesy novelty album... I still love it though.

It's highly cheesy no mistake, though a couple of the tracks are great. Analogue Bubblebath 5 is much much better if we're talking rare aphex albums.

Check this resource for everything. Its got to be the best ordered and most easiest discography to read on Aphex.

I like MFM. It sounds funny in a good way. It's sounds kinda video-gamish but not all at the same time.

it is an awesome set of tracks if you`re into 8 bit music. what`s so great about it is that it takes 8 bit music and adds the trademark 7\ depth we all love. Richard sould`ve prolly released it under an alias though....
i got the original 12 track version long time ago, off Nir Abel, the maker of soulseek
happy me
