Caustic window

I'm wondering whether to by Caustic Window on vinyl from
the Warp site. Is it any good?

I haven't got any of the Joyrex stuff, or even heard any to
my knowledge.

Cheers.

yeah, if you like rough hardfloor-like tunes, get it!
another cool thing is, that the records are divided into the
original releases (joyrex, 4, 5, 9)
it's just a bummer that popcorn and r2d2 is missing...
and HMNE of cos.

depends on your taste...
i only like three tracks on it.

I have the original three, the CD comp and i'm still gonna

i couldnt resist, since it has been in a local record-shop.
if you dont have ab3 yet, get it first..
but caustic comp is a solid one too...
if you want to mix them i gotta tell you that they are all
45 rpm
have a listen first anyway.
i m not into the j9 but thats a matter of taste...

It's kind of dated, but I think Caustic Window is pretty
good. Fantasia in particular is just frickin' frackin'
oresome.

No way its all good. I don't think people can appreciate
their brilliance if they hear them in 2003. You needed to
have heard them when they came out or when I did about 3
years later.

The annoying thing is how Rephlex are repressing
repressings. AB3, Caustic Window, even Warp gave Polygon
Window two goes. I'm looking forward to some new or
unavailable Richard D James to come out. It's starting to
get more then frustrating especially when you support the
label by buying the releases when it's so easy to download.
AB5 and HAB scream out but even those are old. No new stuff.
:/ I know whatever Rephlex put out is going to keep me happy
but how about ultra happy now and then?

all pretty but, -----> j9 b-side
fantasia is mental hardcore,
and exceptional unique no matter
when it was released.
i dont think its so important to have listened to it back in
the days.
im always some years late...
but i developed, i loved and got druqks from the first
day....hehe

they put out a record almost every month - check out e bay -
the caustic window lp is ovrepriced or rare now - it's a
really nice idea to let people have it again ar a reasonable
price .
also it's the only re press they've ever doen so it seems
your moan is for nothing !

He, I bought Caustic Window in HMV.

I heard it for the first time in 2001...and it still kicked
serious ass...

It's different from alot of his other stuff, much more rough
and raw overall, but definetly worth a listen... On the
Romance Tip (aka Jedi) is one of my all time favorite rdj
tunes

well i just bought it today... and i like a lot....
theres some real hardcore stuff on it... but it has that rdj
beauty to it...

It is a great album. I love listening to it, it reminds me
of the first few times i started listening to Aphex Twin

Nice, hardcore, (reasonably) dancefloor friendly dance acid.
As Cfern pointed out, there is an element of rdj beauty to
it, especially in the melodies to some bits.

I reckon Rephlex should hire Nacmat. He is so passionate
about his IDM he'd make a great promoter :)

you know he's releasing a new ep (MEN2) early next month, so
why complain about lacking of new material? and also, why do
we deserve it? it's not like he ows us anything, and there's
no indication that he's going to stop putting out records.
his music is his living

soles of his feet.......or did i imagine this?

Yeah, Garden of Linimiri was on that ad.

And I agree that RDJ owes us nothing.

Oh, and Pigeon Street is a nice song indeed : )

Astrid, I thought The Caustic Window Compilation came out on
green vinyl a few years back when the CD came out. Your
right that's it's cool others have the chance to get it on
vinyl tho. My main point was that I've bought Polygon Window
two times, Caustic Window two times (soon a third) and AB3
two times but I've still yet to have the chance to buy AB5
once! I'm happy with what Rephlex put out as I'm sitting
next to a huge pile of original Rephlex CDs as I type this.
I just wish they would repress AB5 as I really enjoy the
music and would rather experience it from an original CD or
vinyl then a shit bootleg that the napster cat wanked out.
:)

i don't beleive it was a black athlete, it was multi-olympic
gold medalist carl lewis with tire-feet things!!! and yes
this was the first RDJ i EVER heard!!! bye
