how many times...

you read one book or look at one film?

when one buys a record it is listened many, many times, but
when i for example read a really good book i read it many
times in row or after a short time. this surprises many of
my friends. i can also watch same movies or cartoon episodes
tens of times.

i wonder what so different about books or other forms of art
than records?

music doesn't have narrative content - its more abstract.

I read books just ones...

Except if they are philosophy books, which in this case I'll
go back to them if I need a quotation or if I'm thinking
about a certain argument...

I see movies and anime alot of times in a row (about 6 or 7
average if I really like them)

I sometimes find movies really annoying when i see them
lots, maybe that's because they're bad movies.

the BBC hardly ever show GOOD movies!

and I've got too many books to get through before i can go
back and read one book again!

i never watch the same tv show or read the same book lots of
times in a row coz i know after im dont ill never want to
see it ever again coz itll be stuck in my mind.....

but its ok to listen to music over and over because its
short (the average song lasting a lot shorter then the
average tv show or novel) and you can just listen to a bunch
of songs after wards and fuzz up your memory of the oroginal
song.....

I work from home and basically listen to music 10-16 hours a
day. You can do stuff while listening to music, it doesn't
demand the constant attention that a book or film does.

The only books I've read more than once are the first two
Adrian Mole books. I tend not to read many books, even less
now that I don't spend 2 hours a day travelling on the bus,
so I prefer to use what reading time I have on new stuff,
rather than going over old ground.

As for movies, I will watch them again if they're good.
There are some movies that I've seen so often it's scary.

reading takes too much time to read something twice usually.
i don't usually read just for entertainment (fiction etc)

some books I will read over and over too..
some music I will listen to only once..

really depends on what it does for me

for me its like this: if i read a book once i get the
narrative wonders. but then on the next time things like
language and mood come more visible etc. etc. same thing as
with music i think, a record just takes an hour and a book a
little bit more. i'm an extremerly fast reader though.

I can usually only watch a film or read a book once. Sonce
you know the plot, you know the outcome and it's not as much
fun the second time around. I guess I can think of
instances where I've watched films numorous times, but I can
never read a book twice.

i know what you mean about being able to listen to music all
the time, but not watch films / read books all the time

i think it's coz music is on a different level somehow, it
can be interpreted differently by every person and every
time it's played

with a film you are usually presented with ONE way of
perceiving it - the directors perception.

films i can watch over and over again

Aliens
Terminator series
Spinal Tap
Planes Trains and Automobiles
The Crow

some others that i cant think of!

I can watch movies ad infinitum, and books and magazines,
any kind of literature, over and over.

Especially if they're got lots of pictures.

i watch only some movies more than once and I read books a
second time a long time after I first read them like if I
forgot it. but music is the only one of the three i repeat
often of the same album.
