dunno if you've heard about these. they must have had a great influence on some of the artists we discuss here...
i'm especially thinking of pioneers like Tod Dockstader, Pierre Schaeffer and my recent "discovery"; Mort Garson.
Tod Dockstader is particulary interesting IMO; the way he manipulates and processes the sounds of of a door slowly being shut, laughter and drops of water hitting the sink.
A lot of his tracks reminds me of Aphex Twin's more expermintal tracks, and considering that this was all made in the late 50's and throughout the 60's, it's getting even more bizarre.
Thanks to J198, i got a chance to listen to a track called "Incubus" by Mort Garson (born in 1924 i might add). Fucking brilliant track, including a moog, porn samples, flutes...and suddenly this electro-style beat literally KICKS in! BOC fans really should take a notice of this fellow.

what about good ol' raymond scott (or is it smith) i have his compilation cd, and its fuckin excellent, all made in the 60s. i also enjoy his sounds for babies or whateva. oldskool.
