For me it was 'At the heart of it all' from the NIN album 'further down the spiral'. But the song that made me buy all of his albums was Alberto Balsalm...

i think i was sort of spotty. i mean, i had seen the come to daddy video on mtv (when they used to play videos), and um, my friend let me borrow saw2. i even used (i believe) "lichen" for a student film of mine. such a beautiful piece ...

one of my friends showed me powerpill pacman (which I thought was average at the time) on mp3, so I went home and downloaded it, I went on a search to find more songs like this and downloaded some more aphex songs, after downloading "pulsewidth" and "4" I stopped looking and started chasing up other artist that I thought were better at the time, then when I saw the windowlicker film clip, I went out and bought saw I, which I thought was awesome, and I've been getting his stuff ever since

Well lets see... I remember hearing analogue bubblebath one.. the song in a friends beat up old car. I thout it was really weird.. at the time i listened to deathmetal [for some weird reason]. A year later.. i was getting into different stuff.. weirder things. So i went to my local cd shop, and I saw ventolin for sale.. i bought it, not knowing if it was going to be good or not. i didn't really know what to think of it. After a month of trying to listen to it, i just stopped. then i heard my same friend listening to Isopophlex in his room. IT WAS THE SHIT!. i went home and listened to Ventolin again.. i loved it to death!. Since then.. [years back] I have bought/downloaded every single release RDj has put out!. I can't stop!.

The first song was "COME TO DADDY (PAPPY MIX)". I saw the video and I was shocked.
Now, I know many songs of RDJ, and sometime I discover that some of them I listened in 91-92-93, but in that period I didn't know was AFX sound...

I bought Analogue Bubblebath back in 1991 but didn't pay it much attention, I didn't rate it at the time. I also bought the rabbit city white label back then but never played it when I DJayed.
It was the Hangable Auto Bulb EP what got me into the Aphex Twins...

I purchased Drukqs and RDJ album at the same time, after having heard about AFX on some radio or music reviews website and having listened to the samples on the Drukqs website.

I read about AFX in a swedish magazine called POP (r.i.p) and ordered seven warp-related records + one from beyond from my local record shop in the summer of 93. Half a year before that I bought my first synth - things haven´t been the same since then... ;)

He was a sort of minor celebrity during the 90's... "That mad techno knob twiddler bloke." I think I've heard his stuff on the radio and TV since I was about 13, bought the Richard D James album at fifteen, on the advice of a cooler, older kid. I remember reading some book about youth sub-cultures (mods/hippies/punks/etc) publisher in the mid-nineties when I was about twelve, and the last chapter was about ravers and techno. There was a picture of him in his studio with all his gear, he seemed quite cool and futuristic.

Someone told me my music sounded like him. I had heard AFX before and thought it sucked. gave it another listen and really got into RDJ album.
Kind of hoped that he would release some good music instead of being a dogmatic secret fucktard.

That got me into the IDM genre, the only glitch stuff I had heard at the time was were really only in NIN and Charlie clouser remixes. I knew I really liked that, and I always tried to do it in my music. So around the year 2000 I heard RDJ and was pleasantly surprised!
