I know certain, "prefered listeners" have heard this
already, but for those of you who haven't here's my new
track, Paraffin Psychic I think it's probably the most
professionally produced/mixed of my tracks, although the
melody/actual content isn't as good as some of my best work.

It's a fairly ambient piece and is best listened to through
a decent set of headphones or you'll miss all the detail.

Anways, let me know what you think. Be as honest as you
like- I don't take criticism personally...

Thanks,
Ceri.

somewhere..:)

getting it now...:)

it's pretty good, even though ambient stuff doesn't usually
interest me much. that picture's awesome but doesn't
represent the track well. autechre resembles that picture.
your track is more like the soundtrack to a videogame where
you are in a haunted house, only the camera angle is often
annoying and gets in the way of the gameplay, and the
gameplay is about solving puzzles and stuff, not about
action.

for some reason I got only 1:54 worth of it..:(

but yeah sounds really polished and professional..I dug the
distant little voices and clicks etc..gives it a panoptic
depth..so actually I can see the graphic working with it

Nice description- someone else had likened it to exploring a
dark damp cavern with a lantern. The graphic wasn't made for
the track- just something I'd done and later thought that it
was fairly suitable for the track :)

Cheers Flea: Sorry you only got 1.54 of it- it should be
about 6.30 I think...

i didn't know you made the picture. I actually even thought
it was some microscopicly magnified somethingerather. It's
awesome. I couldn't do that with this AWESOME program
"paint". (I made my awesome avatar with that)... I'd need a
swirlamagic effect too

Th epic is a detail of a fractal, with a load of effects &
filters applied. I have a bigger version (1600*1200 * 16.7
mil colours) of it as my desktop. My screen saver is that
image being distorted by a glass spiral lens, looks really
cool.

This is nice and good. I like nice, It is good. Dragon like
nice and good.

Makes me think of a documentary on protein strands using
magnification and computer graphics to illustrate without
the documentary containing any words. Very organic, I like
organic, It is nice and good. You are nice, and good.

;)

Glad you like it, whichever one it is...

(Begins to think that posting the picture on the same thread
as his new track actually draws attention away from rather
than to it...)

The production on this piece was clear and lucid--I thought
there could have been more variation in the music, and maybe
some interspersions of noises or something at sporadic
intervals.

Anyways, I liked it.

Cheers for the feedback Marlowe. There is quite a lot of
variation in the background synths- but it's hard to make
out unless you listen to it pretty loud through headphones.
I agree that the main part is a bit too repetative- it just
goes back and forth between 2 main parts continously- it was
meant to be a comment (feel free to make accusations of
pretence...) on how life goes up then down all the time- one
part is bleak the other optimistic. I'm intending to put one
more sample in this track (I have the sample in mind, but I
need to find a little kid who'll say it for me) then use it
as the closing track for my demo cd-r.

goignnnn means...a moment of zen..

moment to person to person :)

Neetta: You can DL from MP3.com w/o entering any details-
it's not like zeebox (well, it doesn't ask me anyway...) if
you follow the link then just click "download"....

I don't understand why you have to be over 21 to DL it... I
don't think I left it as adult content (there isn't any-just
some scary stuff!)

Spikee: I do a similair thing, often on ftp where it insists
on an email addresses (in format at least) w/o checking it,
I put:
"noneOfYourBusinessYouSpamHungryTw@face.org"

Something funny for the admin to read in their logs ;)

I've been meaning to link a spy thing (mic that can pic up
distant conversations/stuff through walls etc.) to a
portable recording device to get some cool samples...

Seeing as Fat Kaimo is now online:

I listened to both tracks (first ogg vorbis I ever DLed!)- I
liked them both a lot. The old ballroom style of the sound
of 140802 was good and I liked the organ/nature quality of
150702.

Onlt possible criticism could be overuse of crackle on
140802- it may be intentional, but the fact that it occurs
only as the music gets louder suggest distortion. Still,
it's a bit to intense to be really relaxing so I guess it
doesn't disrupt the mood. Good stuff, I liked it.
Is the album available to buy yet?

(ogg vorbis is the way to go!)

thank you a lot for your comments - i'm glad you liked the
songs.

yeah the crackle and distortion is intentional... i like
lo-fi sounds (these songs are actually quite polished).

the album is not out yet, i hope it will be soon, but
because of money issues it's being delayed...
it will be a very small press of blank cdr with maybe a
handmade photo/black paper as a cover, mostly given to
friends and maybe sent to some labels.

I like using lo-fi samples on polished tracks, it proves you
can do both :)

Are all your tracks named after dates or just that album?
It's quite an original idea :)

and i listened to your song too - not bad at all! it starts
surprisingly right away which isn't too usual (a segue to
another song maybe?). the main synth is a bit muddy, that's
just the feel you wanted? the atmosphere is really good, but
i don't really like the "bells" in the backround... the song
also ends a bit abruptly.

anyway i'm not saying i don't like it, because i do! yeah
it's good.

hmm, i don't know how original it is but i've found that i
don't want to name my songs anymore. i don't know, maybe i
don't wan't to give any impression of what the song is about
or something... the songs on my 'fat kaimo' album all had
stupid names but maybe it was a stupid album too...

Ceri dude, Are you like gonna make an ambient CD? That would
be pretty cool if you treat it like a project and pour a lot
of production into it. Maybe have a new mp3.com space for it
under a project name? I dunno if you go for this but I just
think it would be pretty cool.

Yes, that track was 1 of a proposed series of 4. I'm going
to try to make a cohesive EP where the style is fairly
consistant. I've been toying with the idea of an alter
ego/side project for a while now. This could be the one to
make it worthwhile.

Any ideas/suggestions for style/stuff to include on the
other 3?

I'll try to make it "Nice and Good" :)
I'm working on synth patches at the moment, but I'll start
work on the second track in the next couple of days. I'll
keep you posted.

I'm tempted to do a run of say, 500 cds and send 100 out to
labels, sell some to stores etc. I'd need to have more
tracks I was really confident of before making that type of
investment though...
