im doing a very silly track with them. Ive got a huge crystal glass vase with the film stretched to the limit on top. It makes a wacky reverb unit!
ill put this track up tomorrow

That makes me think of the cool effect I can get with one of my saucepans- I have one with a really long handle and when you bang it, it vibrates for ages. It sounds like a tuning fork with a lot of reverb, various amounts of water change the pitch. Something that was particularly good with it was hitting it really hard then filling itwith water as it still vibrated. My flatmate looked at me as if I was insane...
I love everyday noises. The photocopier in work does some crazy breakbeats.

Haha! Yeah, I love the rhythms of office machines. I have an old Epson dot matrix printer that whips vsnares's ass. :-)

Yeah! I worked in a factory during vacation. There was this machine that made a sound even Aphex probably cant make.

I bet he could make it if you got him drunk enough and pushed him into that machine.

hehe cool idea
on this music course i was on, there was a drummer there called Adam Bushell, and he told me a story about how he decided to become a musician:
he was working in a stationary store, looking after the photocopier, and one day he said "there's something wrong with the photocopier, it's rhythm isnt right, its changed" no one paid any attention to him. the next day the photocopier broke down, he eventually left his job and went on to become an amazing drummer :D

my mum has this really really big saucepan lid about 15" dia. at least. when i hit it with a wooden spoon it makes this wicked reverb gong type sound. ive got about 20 different samples of it. best one is in the bathroom. oh and yes dot matrix music is cool. i remember we had this OLD bbc with dotmatrix and we tried to make music by printing out random words sort of like this . . . . . . . . . . . # . .:. #.:##>#..#. . .##>____ god that was fun

Heh heh. I had this really primitive voice sysnthesis program for Dos back when I was running a 386... by alternating various consonants you could make some really crazy rhythms and slip in some verbal phrases.
tuh tuh tuh tuh tuh tuh tuh tuh kuh kuh kuh kuh kuh kuh kuh kuh tuh puh ka tuh puh ka tuh kuh
etcetera...

You'd have to use maybe a piezo contact mike on the can to really get the resonance.
