haven't heard the full album but was lucky enough to hear
some of the tracks a few weeks ago.

my verdict: what i heard, i loved.

some were very similar to portishead, dark, rich, slow.

others had a much lighter sound. i prefered these ones, it
was nice to here her doing something a bit different. had a
very 60s feel to it. in some ways almost folky. two very
enthusiastic thumbs up, can't wait to here the whole
record.

what about portishead, are they ever gonna come together
again to make another fine album or is it definitely over.
That would be a shame because the 2 albums are timeless
classics, very powerful stuff indeed.

To answer Unabomber, the Beth Gibbons & Rustin Man album is
called 'Out Of Season' and it's on Go Beat.

i heard the full thing about a week ago - its ok - a couple
tracks are gorgeous...very soulful - its not like portishead
at all - i wouldnt buy it but its worth borrowing

a new portishead album would be nice...

her voice sounds different too, but still emotional

yipee

portishead's singer, thethirdball

her solo album is so dope, ch-check it (especially if you
like 60s and 70s r&b and white soul with very minute
psychedelic undertones)

I have it, I've only listened to it like 3 times, so I'm not
100% familiar with it. I REALLY REALLY like the song where
she sings really low and raspy at the beginning. She had to
be getting sick of always singing so high and pretty. It was
time for a little grittiness.

saw them both on Jools' show last week. Beth's voice is
still amazing, but the tunes aren't my sort of thing.

they sound 'ok' to me but not much more. i guess i'm more a
fan of the portishead sound and what her voice does with
that than just her voice.

i've listened to some of the tracks and beth gibbons is
great as usual.but i fear it's something too close to
portishead so i perfer waiting to the new portishead
album...

i have both studio portishead albums but they never did all
that much for me, dont seem to work as whole albums just a
collection of songs, i dont like cds like that. i will
download the new beth gibbons and portishead sometime and
see though.

wow, i'm surprised. you like so many good groups and
artists, strange that portishead wouldn't click with you.
they've been one of my favorite bands for years and i regard
both studio albums as classics...

i dont think the Beth Gibbons album is at all like
portishead.

Out of Season is mostly acoustic instruments. Amazing music!
She has written some beautiful, chilled out songs on this
album. I love it, only had it 4 days. Listened to it every
night :-)

I've had it for quite some time. It's on my slsk. It's a
nice album but I vote for more Portishead.
