let this be my official 1000points thread.

i spent a big part of my childhood playing them. now about a
year ago i found them again. one of the best ways to spend
time.

as me and my co-players are older, the gaming has changed
from kill-the-goblins to very intense, psychological
sessions that are really mind-cleaning.

so, my dear tronicomians (god i like that word), do YOU like
RPGs? if so, why? what are your favourites?
right now, i am involved in call of cthulhu and unknown
armies campaigns.

also the people, who think RPGs are something greasy nerds
do because they dont have a life, i would like to know why
you think so.

for example, unknown armies is a psychological horror game.

If D&D Was UA
Andy Schultz had this posted at his site, though he says
he's not the originator. Whoever it is, I found this highly
amusing.

Playing Dungeons & Dragons under the Unknown Armies system

GM: Orcs have thick, brawny necks, but no match for your
powerful hands, and it feels good, it's a visceral thrill to
feel those neckbones separate and snap. But you're
distracted from your pleasure by the nagging yelp of one of
the smallest orc warriors. "Pawgma!" it cries. "Pawgma!
Pawgma!" It's familiar, one of the few orcish words you
know. It means "Daddy . . ." Rank three Violence check!

PLAYER: Dammit. I knew I shouldn't have taken orcish as a
language.

I'm not greasy or a nerd, but I do like a good RPG. Just
that without a console, and with low specs on my PC I've
fallen way behind. I want a decent plot as well, none of
this fancy CGI horseshit (that comes second).

Hands up here who thought FF8 was extremely lacklustre.

I don't play RPG's anymore... cause I have a clock..
and that clock lets me know just how much time I've been
playing the RPG and its really depressing for me now days
:-/

yes, I love RPGs... but what are these pen and paper ones
you talk of? How are they played?

I mostly play rpg's through a mud called Dark Castle... it's
great, it's fantasy type stuff, and you go kill stuff, or
other people, to make your character better... I really like
the text based games such as this better then the graphic
ones... it's like playing a book...

i used to play vampire, but me and my friends are really
immature, so we'd be like "i'm gonna suck blood from that
homeless man" "now you're addicted to crack!" stuff like
that.

it was still fun

lackluster...

this is night-time to me & i'm drunk of course cause it's
saturday night. (is that a phrase?) Saturnine is a good
song, he rambles..

In between these false preconsumptions in someone elses mind
he makes a sandwich and sits down again. Unknown armies is
a mind-game.

Love u all.

I never liked PC-rpgs, not to mention pen and paper ones,
but now I find myself waiting for one to launch in march
(it's a mmorpg). Mostly because it will be like 'Elite' in
space. My bounty hunter char is just itching to boldly go
where nobody has gone before.

But I've started 'oracles of seasons' on gb color.
It's a micro-rpg, but well... still pleasant.

i played paper rpg once. there was only one, starting
session really since the gm was a lazy and flegmatic guy and
couldn't keep the party interested.

pc rpgs - i said it before and i said it again : Morrowind
rules. I hope Oblivion will keep up with the legend/good
tradition.
