I thought it was sad they got rid of her...
I liked their older stuff, haven't heard the new album
though.

personally, I think his voice is the soul of sneaker pimps.
Splinter in my opinion is the best album of the 3, he sings
with so much emotion, unlike the girl (forgot her name),
which makes sence because if i'm not mistaken she didn't
even write the lyrics on Becoming X, she was just called to
do the job. Splinter is amazing

Becoming X sucks
Splinter is good
Bloodsport is THE BEST

The male singer is so much better than the female singer and
Sneaker Pimps keep getting better and better and better. One
of my favorite albums right now is Bloodsport. Some good
tracks/b-sides are:

"Loretta Young Silks"
"Kiro TV"
"Blue Movie"
"After Every Party I Die"

anyone interested in buying Splinter?

time to go topic-digging..

so i bought splinter, and was like, 'this is shit' for a few
months. then dug it up again, got to 'hey this has exiting
moments' and now i am in 'it's a BRILLIANT album'.

so i do not regret :)

it really has raw emotion. plus the male singer is supercute
:)(: *giggle*

i like it more than becoming x nowadays. especially 'strike
me down' gets me nearly in tears!

I don't know about all this. why the new singer? I never
even heard they made the switch. I liked that girls voice.
Hmmm.

from sneakerpimps.com:

The vocals on Becoming X were sung by Kelli Dayton. She
toured with us for two years promoting Becoming X but for
the Splinter album we decided to switch to a male vocal.
There were a few reasons for this major change in approach.
One was the proliferation of female fronted tr*p-h*p bands
with whom we were anxious to avoid comparison. When
something is done too often it loses its effect, and there
was a glut of bands breaking who had two production guys and
a girl singing. It was a formula we wanted to break.

On a more basic level we preferred the sound of Chis' vocal
with those songs. The songs were much more autobiographical
than those on Becoming X and it seemed less honest to get
Kelli to sing someone else's thoughts.

The singer [Chris Corner] is not NEW... he was always in the
band even before they got Kelli Dayton to sing.

From the website:

Chris and Liam met as teenagers in the eighties, drawn
together by their love for recording and bedroom studio
experimentation. With an old school friend, Ian Pickering,
helping with lyrics they wrote the debut album "BECOMING X".
They drafted in college friends Joe, a polymath chancer,
David, a reconstructed jazz drummer, and vocalist Kelli
Dayton who was discovered singing in a pub in her native
Birmingham.-----> Over the course of a year the band put
together "SPLINTER", an album that saw the four boys working
together, sharing the tasks of programming and production
with the door to the outside world firmly shut. It was music
as therapy. Chris would sing the demos and then the
exhaustive process of collage and deconstruction would
begin. It soon became clear that Chris’ voice was the
right voice for Sneaker Pimps and to the consternation of
record companies and the music press, Kelli was asked to
leave.

There are also live shows where Chris Corner sings vocals to
songs off Becoming X and they are so much fucking better
when he sings it. Don't get me wrong, Kelli had an amazing
voice, but I think she needed to sing her own stuff.

now that i listen to x i imagine it being sung by chris all
the time. it is just not right anymore with this chick, even
though her voice is very good. but i usually loathe male
voc. so maybe it was good she was involved so i found the
band in first place..
