dude, i used to work there and let me tell you your fave meal get's tired real fast when you eat it everyday.
so of course i was going for the rip off meal when i first started, like, mcd's is payin' i'm gettin' the most expensive i can! which was obviously the DQPw/C meal and then le big mac and then 20 piezas nuggets then i just settled for either the two cheeseburger meal and just switch out the two cheeseburgers for two double cheeseburgers but if the manager was there i would get the double cheeseburger meal and buy an extra double cheeseburger with that order.

KFC and Wendy's is actually my favourite restaurant, but McDonnalds is the leading fast food restaurant in the world, with it's huge advertising marketing. But, I do eat McDonnalds a lot, because that's what my family chooses it.

Maybe the largest in the world, but not in the USA. It was fairly big news when Subway (makers of generally healthy deli sandwiches) became the largest fast food franchise.

I've noticed that the McD's in Van have all picked up on the Subway Healthy Spin and have signed on with Yves Tofu-rama. Yves is OK for Veggies-stuff like Ground Round and Canadian Bacon (eh?), but is this just a local promotion or has Subway just crashed McDonalds and caused the heads of many a fine franchise to roll? Who out there has had this veggie influx as well?

didn't an American journalist publish a book about McDonalds called "fast food nation"..? in the book he told the utterly gross truth about the slaughterhouses McDonalds uses. extremely disgusting.
2 things I can remember: - supposedly the belts the freshly killed cows or whatever land on go to fast to clean out all the intestines (faster = more productive..) so significant amounts of shit get mixed up in the grinder..
- they have large tanks of boiling water standing by to clean instruments. people who work at the slaughterhouses cut off peaces of meat and cook them in there..
oh dear..

just had a look on google - "fast food nation" by Eric Schlosser. the blurb:
"This myth-shattering book tells the story of America and the world’s infatuation with fast food, from its origins in 1950s southern California to the global triumph of a handful of burger and fried chicken chains. In a meticulously researched and powerfully argued account, Eric Schlosser visits the labs where scientists re-create the smell and taste of everything - from cooked meat to fresh strawberries; talks to the workers at abattoirs with some of the worst safety records in the world; explains exactly where the meat comes from and just why the fries taste so good; and looks at the way the fast food industry is transforming not only our diet but our landscape, economy, workforce and culture.
Both funny and terrifying, Fast Food Nation will make you think, but more than that, it might make you realize you don’t want a quick bite after all."

theres a lot in the book HOW they make it taste soooo good..
apparently "fast-food restaurants rely heavily on the services of the billion-dollar flavor industry, which manufactures and sells the complex chemicals that give distinctive flavors to processed foods such as "smoky" chicken, "strawberry" shakes and even "flame-broiled" burgers.."
I'm quoting from a book review on www.salon.com
