I am typing this directly out of FHM and not cutting and
pasting..so read it and make my keystrokes worthwhile okay
:)

THE ORDER OF SHAME
"Not content with convincing Joe Public that 2.20 pounds is
a perfectly reasonable price to pay for a cup of coffee, the
designer hot beverage chain pulled off another glittering PR
coup on September 11. That was the day when, as the World
Trade Centre crumbled just yards away, the Starbucks branch
opposite cheerfully charged desperate paramedics 90 pounds
for three crates of Evian water to treat victims. Er,
Bravo"

And so it should be. Human tragedy should never get in the
way of a fast (Star)buck.

This story is sad but true.

Starbucks is a complete waste of space. The last cup of
coffee I had there (about 2 years ago) was nasty and
overpriced. Luckily we have a small family-owned cafe where
we live now.

Thanks for the link dude

Down here in New Zealand we have them spreading like
contagious warts threatening our own little ma and pa cafes
out of existence, not to uglifing our beautiful and unique
cityscapes. On the last count there were no less than 7 of
them on one stretch of a main road.

It was a miracle that one of them didnt end up on edging
onto the Lord of the Rings set even though there's crew
members holding Starbucks coffee cups on the making of Lord
of the Rings.

"I don't want your job in starbucks"
Wise words indeed.
I didn't go there anyway, I don't mind expensive coffee as
long as it is freshly (as In I see the person doing it when
they make the coffee) ground from good, fair trade beans and
that it tastes slightly bitter.

The stuff they served in starbucks was the fast food
equivalent at restaurant prices.

Everything is for sale in U.S. ... to highest bidder.
Recently a poor friend of mine needed a root canal and went
shopping for one. She contacted three jewish endodondists
and one christian one. The jewish endodondists would not
budge from their high prices or give her a payment plan, but
the christian endodontist charged 1/2 the price and gave her
two months to pay. She was a christian, and I suppose she
should have known better than to ask jews.

i also hope you grow up, for your own sake.

Racism is hatred of a person for the color of their skin.
Racism is discrimination against people just on general
principles because of their race. However, to be
anti-Christian, or anti-Jewish is NOT racism!. It means you

are against the things for which the religious group stands,

for the actions they take which are opposed to your own
beliefs. If a group, any religious group, is doing evil,
cruel things to another group, it is NOT evil, and NOT
racism to be anti that group. It is good to be anti any
group that does evil things!

There is a difference between criticising certain aspects of
a religion but you were peddling the well-worn antisemitic
crap about Jews.

yeah i remember hearing about this... i think they did
eventually reimburse the paramedics and apologize...but its
still quite sad...

reminds me of something william s burroughs wrote...
"there are many junk pyramids feeding on peoples of the
world and all built on basic principles of monopoly:
1. never give anything away for nothing
2.never give more than you have to give (always catch the
buyer hungry and always make him wait)
3. always take everything back if you possibly can"

Fair point- It's just that the term "Jew" (in many people's
minds) refers to someone who is of jewish race and belief. I
have a friend who is a christian, but is of jewish race,
similairly you get people who convert to judaism.

If the point you're making is one against a religion, it's
a fair one- it's something people can choose.
