Anyone in here like them?? I have been listening to Aphex for awhile now, i decided i would explore some new artists until DruQs came out. So i came across Confield by these guys, and i must say, i find it to be a brilliant album!! I cannot stop listening, it is soo...corrosive, i love it...

Crunch's "1" is nearly as good, if not as good. I havn't decided yet as I have not had time for a thorough listen. While's "even" too.

Oh, so they aren't so unheard of as I'd thought. The only reason I found the albums I mentioned is because Shapethrower (mp3com) suggested them. Otherwise, I'd never have found them. The site I ordered them is www.forcedexposure.com. Do you know of any other sites with excellent material like this, hopefully ones with actual sound samples (try before buy)? I havn't heard any of the artists you mentioned except for proem's Negativ very briefly. Too brief to say anything about, though so far I don't like it as much as the 2 that I mentioned. I'll add your suggestions to my *stuff to check out list*, including: delarosa & asora "agony part 1" Michael Fakesch "marion" arovane "tides" and "atol scrap" Jake Mandell "parallel processes". Have any more?

particularly highly intricate and complicated sound, an example being autechre's LP5. That's the stuff I really like.

If you happen to see a Barnes & Noble around, stop by there. Believe it or not, they actually have some hard to find titles ~ I bought AB3 there, hard to find in my area. I suppose their website may have the same... Later

in a word ... yes...not an essential AE release but the tracks are cool if you like AE just as they started to get good...
I love that last track, Flutter...very proto-drumNBass...
Might be worth checking out the MP3s first if it's gonna be expensive tho....

I'm a bit late with this piece of trivia and i bet everyone already knows that, but: "Anti" was made as a part of protest against this new government document (criminal justice bill or something) that targeeted "music with repetitive beats" (a bit hilarious, don't you think), so Rob and Sean made an EP with non-repetitive beats... A blueprint for what came later on ep7 and confield

america's autechre. please don't say that it's sad and phoenecia are completely different. so funkstorung is germanys autechre and richard devine is an autechre wanna bee f**k
I think they were trying the non-repetitive stuff with gescom first. whatever happened to the criminal justice act anyway?

I dunno about gescom doing it first, perhaps it's true, but anyway "Anti" was intentionally done this way as a kind of sociopolitical statement.

i know it's funny that u can make as much noise with non repetitive music, which sort of poo'd on the whole bill. i honestly don't think the criminal justice bill has been used in the last few years, prolly because raves and outdoor events tend to be licensed now adays

i've got all my autechre tracks on MP3, roughly around the 160-192kps bit rate...
is there a real noticable difference between the mp3s and the cd releases??

all that "non-repeatative beats" lark was so funny...
trying to define Dance music in a legal sense...the fuckers...that was back in the days of a Conservative govt and they hated the idea of kids enjoying 'emselves, doing not-very-dangerous drugs...
it was a knee-jerk reaction to all the raves and parties happening; they simply felt they were out of control of the situation rather than any worries about public safety....glad the fuckers are gone...
They succeeded in a way...club & raves are like a shadow of their former selves...you can't create a legal, safe form of youth culture without removing the whole damn point if it...

soory princo...menat to answer your question...
I'd say yeah, it def worth re-ripping those MP3s...you can good AE MP3s with a little effort and the right software/encoding...AE do seem to create sonically complex stuff, stuff that MP3 at low bit rates will have trouble with...
check the R3mix.net site out...and with the encoding options they suggest...it's def worth it...it's probably not massively noticeable (compared to 160-192K) but with a band like AE, I reckon it's worth it...

I use LAME for my encoding (and EAC) for CD ripping...CDEX (does ripping & encoding) is cool as well (as long as you set it to use the LAME encoder)...
use either the -r3mix preset or -alt-preset standard...
r3mix.net site will tell you more...
