Poshnu is the spider capital of tuvalu. Our nation's flag has the tarilimithicus perificus on it, an 8 foot spider unique here... you should hear out national anthem.

Only in the north currents do we recieve an occasional coconut, so our leading scientists (which are all me, since I'm the only citizen) have deduced that we are an island south of some landmass somewhere that has coconut trees.

well at least i am shocked roybivcore! Oh my god... i am so relieved we don't get black widows over here. I'm sure i wouldn't even have dared to kill it... if i found one in my basement i'd probaly scream my lungs out and run away as fast as possible :-p
Even regular (non-poisonous) spiders totally freak me out. If i knew the little monster was also lethal... it would be a nightmare!

black widows are poisonous. and they do kill people. but the difference between them and all the big scary animals you have in austrailia is you can't hear them. and probably won't see them.

Spiders have this great streamline look. Evolution has been kind to spiders as they are the assassins of the insect kingdom. ooooh they're so evil!

insects usually have a great ability to shut their bodies down when they need to. they usually absorb their air through their "skin" so even if they are in water, if they have part of their body sticking out they can survive for a long time.

I got bitten by a hobo spider about two weeks ago, the smaller buddy of the Brown Reculse. It sucked. A lot.
I was hallucinating for two days straight, was in searing pain on my finger and still am and will have a lovely scar to show for it. Stupid thing won't heal for another 20 days, had to check in with the hospital. Most pain I've ever experienced.
I would have much rather been bitten by a black widow

I like spiders, just not when the fuckers bite..
I got bit by an unidentified (not totally undiscovered or anything, just the dr's werent sure which kind it was) spider on my foot, and it felt like my foot had literally been blasted by a blowtorch (sincere burning pain) and it turned hugely purple for like 2 weeks....
