We have a small local music scene.

Around here there are some hardcore and emo bands. The best
one sound like Hatebreed, Zao, and Dillinger Escape Plan.

Of course Dallas (80 miles west) has a great scene.

What's going on locally around the world?

there is a somewhat decent metal scene in albany. Maybe
around 97-98 it peaked. Disciples of Berkowitz, Skinless,
Hatebreed, Stigmata...a few others. Skinless has toured
once with slayer, hatebreed has become a tad popular with
the youngens( their lead vox is missing part of or whole
thumb completely which is freaky)

Skinless just finished a tour with Six Feet Under too, but I
don't know if that's something to brag about ;) Skinless
rules nonetheless

Here in St Louis, there is a pretty good scene for some
different types of music. I am getting pretty into the
hardcore / metalcore scene with bands like Love Lost But Not
Forgotten, Sine Nomine, and Scream For Silence.

i live in dc where punk, indie rock, hardcore, and emo (dc
is where it all began) reign supreme. most popular musical
exports: fugazi, the dismemberment plan, and q and not u. we
also have thievery corporation and their whole e street
lounge crew (actual venue and label roster). asides from
chillout music there's no electronic scene to speak of.
there's also no real hip-hop scene. go-go is huge, however.
i'd say dc is the go-go capital of the world. we also have
lots of popular jazz clubs and a celtic music scene.

My friends have a group called the Stove,
Kristen sings, plays keyboard and cello, Eduard makes beats,
Katya plays violin and keyboards. There kinda hard to
catagorize, mostly hip hop break beats, with the basslines
and instruments played with sound modules and keyboards,
when they perform live a lot of it has to be pre recorded of
course. I will try to post some of there songs sometime
soon, cant do it from work will have to figure it out at
home. Then we have some punk bands, emo rock, metal, Dj's
etc.

We've got a shiteload of Minimal Techno and House in my neck
of the woods.

Akufen, Mitchell Akiyama but also God Speed You Black
Emperor and of course,
Kid Koala

But most people who go out to dance listen to House which
dominates the club scene here. Our Hip Hop scene is pretty
weak and fragmented because of the language barrier.
English college students rarely support Francophone Hip Hop
and vice versa.

Mutek (linkage) is a godsend every year.

Of course we also have a pretty big Jazz Fest. But that
doesn't interest me much.
