What cd cases do you like?

Sometimes the artist goes away from the traditional jewel
case and comes out with something cool. Or sometimes they
use the jewel case in cool ways. In your cd collection,
what are your favorite cd cases / cd art? (not the music but
the overall look of the package)

Mine are:

Speedy J - A Shocking Hobby: Ultra minimalistic paper slip
that cd goes into in the side. His photocopied face on the
front is pure coolness too. It's kinda creepy. I love it.

Autechre - LP5: I have the frosted black case with the
indented 'autechre' on the front. I consider it to be one
of my cooler cds in my collection.

AFX - Analogue Bubblebath 4: Even more minimalistic than
the above Speedy J's case. It's very cool.

Radiohead - I Might Be Wrong, Live recordings: I actually
didn't know how to open this when I got it. I didn't want
to unfold it cause how it was done it looked like I would
break it. After fumbling around for a bit I decided to pull
it apart and surprisingly that's how I WAS supposed to open
it. I consider it to be one of the best cd packages there
has ever been. It's a three fold package that if you pull
both ends apart you're left with three 'walls' which you can
stand up and there is artwork on them. The cd slips into
the side of the right wall's outer edge.

Req - Sketchbook: Bought this yesterday and the package
feels like construction paper...although its not and is way
stiffer. Its cool though cause it also looks like
canvas...and the paintings on it give it that painted look
... obviously lol. Still very cool.

The Beatles- White Album

At the time (1968), it came with a big poster with lots of
cool pics of those sexy Beatles (some were nude, gasp!), and
four glossy photos of the Gods of Music themselves. Not to
mention the all white cover was a symbol of how pure and
kickass the album was. Mmmm... white.

And anytime you've to TWO records worth of Beatles music,
that automatically adds up to EAR CANDY GALORE!!!

And the records had big green apples on it, Apple being
their record label. And apples are juicy and delicious, like
Angelina Jolie.

i like the skampler compilation cd. it's like the LP5
black jewel case, but shiney with 'skampler' on the front in
cool writing. and it has a braille sticker :)

LP5 is v. nice as well.

and the 'outspaced' cd by super furry animals is cool. it's
a shaped thick PVC sleeve with a picture of a bear with it's
head in a vice on the front. mine is yellow.

Yeah that amnesiac-book is pretty! i love it!

I also really like the jewel-case for Tool's Ænima. It's
like a normal jewel-case, only ribbed. And the picture on
the sleeve has been printed in a special way. So if you see
it behind the ribbed plastic, the image starts moving as you
look at it from different directions. So all those eyes move
away from the flaming white light... it's awesome!

'outspaced' is the name of the super furry animals 'b-sides
and rarities' album. not a lot of people on the board will
be fans of the furries, but this albums got some gems on it.

Appart from say Frank Zappa I like it when people use a
painting. Two that come to mind, the boat picture on Arab
Strap is it 'The week Never atrts round here'?. Also like
the rather odd picture on the Gomez cd I own.

i remember a friend having this Spiritualized CD and it was
inside a small cardboard box and inside it was packaged like
tablets would be. You know, with the plastic bottom shaped
out and the foil over the top of it.
That was kinda cool.

cases are very cool especially No Code. thats gotta be one
of the coolest cases. it has so many differeny compartments
of pictures and such. maybe even worth buying for cheap for
just the case.

I don't have very many "cool" cases but I know what you are
talking about like with BoC "geosomething" why do bands have
cool cases like that but then they also have regualr cases
for the same disc?

plastikman's 'sheet one' is cool...it comes in a regular
jewel case..and the cover slip is made of coarse paper
preforrated into little squares with little plastikman logos
on the back...perhaps a reference to a sheet of acid?
hmmm...

i also like the special edition kid a book..with all the
weird paintings

rotor+'s aileron has a really nice package too...it comes in
a hardbound book with a black cover whith only the artist
and title written in indented gold writing...and inside the
book, there is a little 'forward' by the owner of the record
label, telling of how he came across rotor+, the rest of the
book is filled with nice photos and some writing, quotes,
poetry, graphics...the presentation of that cd really added
to it...making the initial experience much more special than
just opening a regular cd, add to that the two videos
included on the cd...and of course the incredibly lush
music...

case with nothing in there except for the cd... it's still
cool...
