I saw this cop show from England (like videos of chases and such) and I saw something weird on the roads over there. In a chase a car was going through a town and I noticed that the lines went from straight to suddenly zig zaggy and then back to straight. On your roads, what do the squiggly lines mean?

zig zag means its actually illegal for the queen (or any royal) to go over that bit, as its a security hazard.
These lines are all over england, its just an old tradition we english have and never really got rid of. Like in the old days, they would use zig zag hay to show the 'critical' point (i.e. the point no royal should cross) but now they use paint. And they used to have circles of hay in the road where its not good for politicians to go, but that law was abolished in 1898.
hope that clears things up.

I thought it had to do w/ crosswalks...but I'm not from the UK so I have no idea what I'm talking about.
So a zig-zag line means you can pass vehicles? makes sense to me....that'd look pretty weird on a long strech of straight road though.

they are the lines before and after a zebra/pelican crossing, it means a car cant park or stop there.

Yes, zig-zags mean you can't stop or park, or overtake.
(Checks highway code.....)
