".....and that was a beautiful through ball to Richard
James from Sean Booth, left back for IDM...James on the
ball...he skips past Jonathan Davies...slips a lovely
weighted pass to mike dred...oof! vicious foul there by zack
de la rocha! the ref's reaching into his pocket...he's off!!
de la rocha is raging!! ... so IDM has a free kick on the
edge of the box... goalkeeper chino moreno is moving
nervously around the goalmouth, shouting directions to the
wall... it's going to be bogdan raczynski to take the
kick.... he runs up and...

GOAL!!!!

one-nil to IDM, and the fans are going wild with politeness
and infighting!!!"

WTF? Rock VS. IDM? Rock would totally kick IDMs ass.

".... Queens Of The Stone Age duo Nick and Josh have been
brought on for the Rock team..."

*ten minutes later*

"...and at half time the score is still IDM 1, Rock 0,
although the IDM team is now down to six players due to
injuries"

Theres no way that IDM would beat ROCK.

well they are one-nil up REFLEX; looks like rock's hardcore
reputation is based on media hype! those IDM lads have
obviously been practicing!

(BTW this is soccer, not grid-iron, just in case you thought
the contest is down to physical strength)

".....IDM bring on their star striker, Amon Tobin, hoping to
weave some breakbeat footwork in the Rock box! could be
another goal coming soon!!"

IDM would totally kick ass. the lack of a stale formula like
rock would confuse the hell out of the rock team leaving the
IDM team to run rings round the rockers.

rock....

possibly an even worst term than IDM...

"let's rock!!"....

"lets not!!"..say I..

anyway, rock would have so much trouble getting their
wheelchairs around fast enough...

That's if they could get their dodgy perms outta their eyes
to see the ball...

"rock" rhymes with "a load of smelly cock" for a good reason
you know!!!

Hendrix, Cobain and Morrison all banned from the Rock
"Stiffs" (reserve xi) for drug abuse...
Meanwhile , U2, forming the entire back line disappear
completely from the dield of play... up their own arses ,
presumably...

It's all going Meatloaf shaped for Rock...

You're completely right,IDM will always rule over
rock...Besides,as a composer there's no need for a whole
band to just follow your idea...If I have an idea I will
just do it myself if wanted to come exactly as I conceived
in my mind...=)

I think rock done well is better than any IDM... the Beatles
or the Who or the Floyd at their height, or Radiohead during
their OKComputer days... the Stones just rocking out...

But 99% of rock is total crap... give IDM another goal. More
creativity, less generic artists...

Yes Ophecks, rock used to be good and creative, but that was
long ago, since the late 60's and 70's like until 1975...Then
crapdisco came and damage the whole thing....But
really,since The Beatles-Sgt peppers,RollingStones-Their
satanic magesties request and Pink Floyd-first 2 records
until The wall there hasn't been too much originality.....:)

This is fucking retarded. Are some of you so ignorant that
you think that all rock is media hype? Grow the fuck up and
out of your stupid IDM narrow minded ways. This so called
IDM is only a small group of artists, ROCK is everywhere and
has been for such a long time. Sure "IDM" has lots of good
stuff, but if you thought about it more than once youd know
ROCK would win. Unless this is a stupid topic - that
shouldnt have been created to see the opinions of us because
you were way too bored.

REFLEX to quote jand..the essential rockers are all wheel
chair jockeys by now...the rest dont wanna be called rock
even though they may share the instruments and a chord or
two..I mean rock pretty got crushed mutilated and detroyed
by the likes of SWANS using rocks own tools..and that was
two decades ago.....
on that note..the two new TOM WAITS are sounding
incredible..not that he is quite.....rock

offline REFLEX from Edmonton, Alberta (Canada) on 2002-06-05 00:03 [#00250234]

Yes.... but also, there are tons of rock and roll people,
guitar stuff that is great. IDM is a small little offshoot
of electronica as we all know, just because someone thinks
its the shit doesnt mean it would win VS. rock music. In the
music world all these IDM people have little pull compared
to the rock people. Marlowe is a fuckin moron anyway.

yeah but in our little safe haven bubble world (this mb) IDM
will beat the crap out of anything LOL..that's the beauty of
it..and I think very much the point of marlowe's post..It's
like your dreamworld where you toss a crunched up paper
right into the trashcan every single time and the rest of
the world stops and cheers and asks for autographs each
time..only over a thousand people are sharing this dream
realm :)..enjoy it!

Yeah but I like lots of IDM, but I like more of other types
of electronic or rock or experimental or something. But that
doesnt mean I know that RoCK would still kick its ass.

Tom Waits ain't no rock!
Which do you like better, 'Alice' or 'Bloodmoney'? I think
I'd have to go with 'Alice' though they are both great
albums. I especially like the song 'Everything You Can
Think Of Is True'.

At least, superficially speaking... Many big fans of Tom
Waits are also big fans of Leonard Cohen. Nick Cave too.
They all have their similarities..

But seriously folks..
I really like Nick Cave, especially his latest offering, 'No
More Shall We Part'. Lovely. I'd say that Tom Waits and
Nick Cave are more related sound-wise than Waits and Cohen.
You may want to give some of his songs a listen before
buying one of the new records as he may not be your cup of
tea.

The sirens are screaming and the fires are howling
Way down in the valley tonight
There's a man in the shadows with a gun in his eye
And a blade shining oh so bright
There's evil in the air and there's thunder in the
sky
And a killer's on the bloodshot streets
Oh and down in the tunnel where the deadly are rising
Oh I swear I saw a young boy
Down in the gutter
He was starting to foam in the heat

Oh Baby, you're the only thing in this whole world
That's pure and good and right
And wherever you are and wherever you go
There's always gonna be some light
But I gotta get out
I gotta break it out now
Before the final crack of dawn
So we gotta make the most of our one night together
When it's over you know
We'll both be so alone

Like a bat out of hell
I'll be gone when the morning comes
When the night is over
Like a bat out of hell I'll be gone gone gone
Like a bat out of hell I'll be gone when the morning
comes
But when the day is done
And the sun goes down
And moonlight's shining through
Then like a sinner before the gates of heaven
I'll come crawling on back to you

I'm gonna hit the highway like a battering ram
On a silver black phantom bike
When the metal is hot and the engine is hungry
And we're all about to see the light
Nothing ever grows in this rotting old hole
Everything is stunted and lost
And nothing really rocks
And nothing really rolls
And nothing's ever worth the cost

And I know that I'm damned if I never get out
And maybe I'm damned if I do
But with every other beat I got left in my heart
You know I'd rather be damned with you
If I gotta be damned you know I wanna be damned
Dancing through the night with you
If I gotta be damned you know I wanna be damned
Gott

But I can't stop thinking of you
And I never see the sudden curve until it's way too
late
I never see the sudden curve till it's way too late

Then I'm dying at the bottom of a pit in the blazing
sun
Torn and twisted at the foot of a burning bike
And I think somebody somewhere must be tolling a bell

And the last thing I see is my heart
Still beating
Breaking out of my body
And flying away
Like a bat out of hell
Then I'm dying at the bottom of a pit in the blazing
sun
Torn and twisted at the foot of a burning bike

go back on that scoreline! only add to it!
