Right, I have a slight problem, if anyone can help...
I deleted a bunch of infected files with Norton the other day, but a new folder has popped up on my C drive, called _RESTORE. It has 23500 files in it, all of which are hidden (and insist on staying that way) and I can't delete it cause it keeps saying 'file in use'. I realise this is like a back up or something but it's 10 gb in size and it's taking up too much room! Anyone know how I can delete this fucker?

Can't remember how to turn it off, but it does sound like the SYSTEM RESTORE thing...
Do a google on ME SYSTEM RESTORE... I think it's fairly straightforward to turn it off or set a lower disk space limit....

You can control the amount of space that System Restore uses, but you won't be able to remove the folder. (Unless you disable System Restore...but I have never done this..)
The amount of space allocated to System Restore under XP is changed under, System Properties, and then the System Restore tab.

System Restore is a very good thing to have....I have used it several times - and it works. It saves a Windows re-installation at times!
If you are running out of diskspace, then I'd seriously consider upgrading rather than disabling this utility.

it is useful but it can fill up easily...
So best way I found when I was on ME would be to disable it once a month, reboot (which purges the _retore folder if you disable)...and then turn on again & reboot...
Then it doesn't have much chance to fill your HD up...and you still get a stable machine you retore back to...

My settings on my computer allow 2Gb to be used out of the 10Gb free I have on that drive. I guess when it fills the 2Gb it just deletes the oldest stuff. I suppose when you have plenty of space, its something you'd not think of!
