im just curious as to how you started listening to *gulp* i.d.m (shudders).
first i was a strictly rock man (before 'nam), then i heard stuff like orbital which got me into electronic. then i heard a comp tape with "4" and "girl/boy song" from the RDJ album and was turned to the dark side. around that time i heard "roygbiv" by the mighty boards and got well into warp stuff...
anyone else? (i know this may have been a previous thread, but i am newish)

I was turned to the dark side 96 97 something when i heard "Girl/Boy Song" followed by pushers "Beep Steet" on the radio.
Before that i mostly listened to dnb and hip hop.

i owe it all to trent and his further down the spiral album, which includes aphex's at the heart of it all. after getting into aphex, i graduated to listening to god, aka ae.

15 years ago I was getting tired of all the pop/metal bullcrap music,so started to listen to Ministry(back when they were industrial/electronic) and all of WaxTrax releases, then I discover that industrial/electronica was exactly what I wanted to listen forever......

I was introduced to both Coil and Aphex Twin through 'Further Down the Spiral'.
'The Downward Spiral(The Bottom)' is still the most amazing remix I have ever heard.

i was first introduced to electronic music when i was in vancouver visiting my cousin back in like '97 or so.
he played me some downtempo, drum'n'bass and house stuff.
i overheard someone talking about how something sounded like aphex twin, and i decided to check that shit shit out!
yep!
before that i was strictly punk rock.

I had just recently "DISCOVERED" electronica and I was finding out everything about it that I could and I observed that this Aphex Twin fellow was quite a prominent figure in the electronica genre, so I bought I Care Because You Do. . .. and it all goes down from there. (I got into Aphex Twin only last fall).

I was into Nine Inch Nails way back when Wish came out. That somehow lead to the dancier side of electronic music. i.e. Underworld.
I was a member of BMG and had to buy a CD. I ordered I Care Because You Do because it said something about electronic music.
To be honest, I hated it when I first heard it, but a year or so later I gave it a listen again. The rest is history.

I had never heard something girl/boysong,wich I liked a lot,
so I asked her who this was,and if I could borrow the tape. The day after, she had her aphex albums with her for me to listen to.
