Name some of your favourite artists who function as important bridges between musical genres/styles and mention what genres that artist has explored and/or combined.
Maybe we can find out which of the artists have the widest musical variety, and connect some of our musical tastes.

Radiohead has lots of different styles.
µ-Ziq is another good one who bridges the gap between dance music and IDM and just plain ol good listening music.
RDJ: 'nuff said.

RDJ is the hub of electronic music for me... from him, I've branced out into other artists. The thing is, he does it all, dance, ambient, drill, cute stuff, crazy stuff, scary stuff... from his more abstract work, like Peek from the RDJ Album, I got into Autechre... from his drill and bass tracks like Girl Boy, I got into Squarepusher... SAW85-92 made me want to hear more mellow material with nice synths and laid back beats... like BOC.

Oh! How could I forget:
DMX Krew Bochum Welt
both bridge the electronica scene with 80's synth-pop. I can't get enough of some of their cheezy dance songs, even the dmx ones with vocals! (I usually hate vocals) Some of their melodies are just too awesome to be called pop, so I have to put them into the electronic, "IDM" genre.

Photek doesnt bridge as much as skip genres. Solaris totally alienated his jungle fans. Myself included.

Red Snapper's a good bridger of Gaps more Electronic Meets Jazz. Tortoise is Electronica, meets indie rock (read Stereolab), meet prog rock.

What about Bjork, she's done Pop, House(debut), Rock(sugarcubes), IDM(homogenic), Triphop(post), orchestral/choir stuff(Vespertine), she's done some Jazz and punk in the past. Pretty wide spectrum if you ask me...

I've yet to get into Bjork... I haven't liked the few tracks by her that I HAVE heard. I don't like her voice at all... but I guess I'd better get her albums and see what all the fuss is about, eh...
