maybe it would have been better to say - what motivates you
.. every answer to that question seems so arbitrary -
superficial, etc. but answers nonetheless .. ?

offline Monumrnt from To (Canada) on 2002-05-30 16:06 [#00242648]
Points: 733 Status: Addict

What motivates me?
The biological construction of my body.

Quite simple since the question was general enough.

offline korben dallas from nz on 2002-05-30 16:12 [#00242661]
Points: 4605 Status: Regular

mm.. biology - but see - this seems to undermine it in a
certain sense?

because a biological explanation sort of removes the
motivation from "you", it seems to take away the intention
.. ie. the motivation is not "yours" but your body's (good
ol dualism).

offline korben dallas from nz on 2002-05-30 16:13 [#00242664]

dunno .. this is a circle .. don't bother if you don't want.

frustrating thats all.

Yesterday I was meditating and for the first time I did not
feel that dualism for which I only knew "In theory" that it
is nothing but an illusion. It is a strange feeling of
having the whole thing that you considered to be inner-self
be inverted.
Maybe I found my own enlightement?

the future motivates me... I'm 19, and have my whole life
ahead of me, and everything is bound to just get better I
guess...

offline korben dallas from nz on 2002-05-30 16:22 [#00242680]
Points: 4605 Status: Regular

enlightened indeed.

the problem with language/thought (as far as i'm concerned)
is that there is no way to get out of the dualism .. only
pure emotion although in a sense denoting it as that already
presupposes dualism.

but yeah, the idea of nothingness is quite cool.

i guess there doesn't always have to be a cause behind an
effect.

offline korben dallas from nz on 2002-05-30 16:28 [#00242684]
Points: 4605 Status: Regular

the future .. but its all just a means for a means .. ?
innit. there aint no ultimate ends ..

mmhh.. i might get some sleep soon - seems i'm motivated
enough to want to function tomorrow .. :/

offline Monumrnt from To (Canada) on 2002-05-30 16:29 [#00242686]

I don't know man. It wasn't a feeling of nothingness. I
just sat there all high on myself and stuff, and all of a
sudden a feeling of "This is stupid and useless" overwhelmed
me. But I liked it... It is like an inverted meditation ??
I don't know.

Sometimes when in an altered state of mind (usually due to
plants), I begin thinking the stuff so I come to a point
when thoughts are just emotions, and thereby I start
thinking with emotions???

So i know exactly what you are trying to say...

sound

relation

There are sometimes just so many thoughts that I cannot
express them with words (perhaps a sum of MANY MANY words),
so I start feeling them. I hope I will come to a point when
I can do this in a rational manner.

offline korben dallas from nz on 2002-05-30 16:34 [#00242695]
Points: 4605 Status: Regular

yeah .. i wasn't meaning a feeling of nothingness .. the
idea of it is pretty cool tho :)

but yeah .. i get the overwhelming sense of "this is stupid
etc." .. and while you're in that overwhelmed state yeah its
good, or indifferent.

but when you're not, yet you know that you were .. then
what? y'know what i'm getting at?

it's like you've affirmed to yourself that its all stupid,
so it just seems stupid to do anything? self defeating fo'
sho' .. but thats where i'm at. ??

offline korben dallas from nz on 2002-05-30 16:36 [#00242701]
Points: 4605 Status: Regular

yeah .. i'm getting this inexpressable "feeling" more and
more .. the attempt to rationalise seems to make it so
inexpressable .. ?

Only you can know where you are at.

Try mastering something.
This is what I have done with music.
I can create a cool song just in a wav-editing program from
a bloody skratch, and that is why when I see all of those
people trying to make something with rebirth I say to myself
"This is all stupid". However, I started seeing myself
stupid as well, which means that it is a time to move on to
something else.

Try to invert the feeling you just described to me the
similar way like when I see someone trying to make music
with rebirth. (If you know what I am saying bro')
