I just saw footage of a plane hit into the world trade
centers on sept 11. it was horrible, people died that same
moment it hit.

It really is insane. It never sunk in with me, I blocked it
out of my mind. But whenever I see the footage or pics of
the buildings (before, during or after), it almost seems too
surreal, like a movie. Impossible to believe it actually
happened.

they wash artists they dont like out of their minds daily
i'm sure -- the way mtv is divided up, everything is
disposable

offline cygnus from nowhere and everyplace on 2002-05-27 02:23 [#00236490]
Points: 11920 Status: Regular

it's becoming harder for them to divide it up becuse some
genre's are becoming more popular -- and there's more types
of music arising

so what they do is encourage artists to combine genre styles
and they'll show their videos -- people watch the videos and
figure they can get on mtv if they do it -- the cycle
begins. and they sound like shit.

same goes with the WTC

because it was on tv you chose whether or not you wanted to
watch it -- and then how long you wanted to -- etc

it's disposable

obviously i don't support what happened on sept. 11 but you
guys gotta get over it. our country does the same sort of
shit, only we do it:
a) on a much smaller scale
b) more often
c) in total secrecy

it's just as bad if not worse when we do it because we're
supposed to be a role model for other nations. anyway, i'm
not in the mood to get into a political debate so i won't
add anything else, i just wanted to give you something

I can say this since so far all posters have been from the
US.

This thread is somewhat indicitive of why we got attacked,
the free spread of often crazy american ideas. And I laugh,
cuz this is why this country is so great.

We have dumbasses making fun of the loss of life, a few
rational people not even supporting a response and trying to
dole out reason, another person explaining the pop culture
virus that is killing us quietly. This is f***in great.

This is what makes this country so fucking sweet. haha,
fuck terrorists, even with the people who make up this
country shitting on it, supporting it, and making fun, it
still stands strong to allow that very converstation to
continue. And people think they can bring that shit down
with a building, 275 million Americans opinions and voices
can't tear it down.

THat sounds super patriotic, but it's really just an
observation of this thread.

titsworth was 100% right.. if you don't believe these
attacks were provoked or The US doesn't do shit then you've
got your head buried in the sand.

When I saw the planes I was hit at first as well, duuh, but
then the implications of having an idiot like Bush in power
started to sink in. Its starring into the jaws of world war
3 daily with that numbskull. We don't need him sprouting off
like he did, we don’t need him to tell us these were
terrorists attacks or make most believe they were in fact
the FIRST terrorist attacks ever, we needed a world court we
need people to put this into perspective. While its
important to remember such things and those lost even though
we can't replace them its also important to know what the
media did and is doing, they played us all big time. Over
here, (in the US) It was 24 hours straight of people jumping
out of buildings.. Hmm, that's all very well but as Cygnus
said, its disposable and so is everything else. Thousands
die daily in other 3 rd places outside the US, and they're
given a 3 seconds news piece, that's fucked up to me and it
doesn't make sense. Then think of how many would die on a
daily basis because of hunger and/or aids in lesser off
places. Put things in your OWN perspective, not a media
created one.

Living here since Sept. 11 th HAS been different, anyone who
tells you otherwise is lying. There was a few people like my
myself who started thinking things through and started
asking questions but thrice fold more became part of this
republican patriotic machine.. BOLLOCKS I tell you, utter
bollocks. I want to move to the UK, so, who can set me up?
Come on, England has Blaire, who’s a damn fool, but he’s
better then Bush. Yup, plus England will have more
GIGs..mmm..gigs..

The us is suffering from a severe case of hurt pride. Us
brits have had to deal with terrorist attacks for decades.
Im not saying that osama was right in his actions (the guy
is fucked in the head) but there is obviously alot of
anti-us feeling in the world and most of it comes from the
way in which armerica has consistantley peddled this
patriotic, paternal, patronising attitude towards anyone and
anything that dares to stand against them, 11/9 babylon is
burning, they'll be more death before this is over.

"And I laugh,

No, its people like you saying stupid bullshit like that
that are the reason for the attacks. Wake up, this should
have been an oppurtunity to properly see why America is
hated so much, yet the country swings towards being even
more patriotic. Its not the free spread of American ideas,
its the US's dollar diplomacy that is used to control the
rest of the world and people are sick of it and you find it
surprising there is retaliation? I don't hate America or
American's, I just hate what it stands for.

B3n, your full of shit m8.

The free spread of ideas and opinions is what this country
is founded on.

I guess you can go to China and be oppressed, they don't
seem to be the target of terrorists, they must be doing
something right then eh??

Come on man, free speach and the spread of ideas by
educated, dumbass and the masses is what makes this country
great, you're debating public policy which is entirly
different.

Thusly I take offense to you saying I am the reason anyone
attacked this country, that's a pretty low blow for a
comment about freedom of speach.

Well do you see planes flying into buildings in britain,
france, belgium?....oh wait! I forgot, America is obviously
the only free country in the world, how stupid of me!

Why did they decide to attack only America? There has to be
some logical reason and its not because America isn't Muslim
or that "the koran tells muslims to kill non-muslims" (which
someone on this board stated before and was shown to be
absolute bullshit)

I'm not debating only public policy, i'm debating the whole
present ethos of America. Even people in america hate it,
look at the amount of blacks becoming muslims in America,
its to go against its white ideals (that don't ensure
freedom for everyone).

I'm sorry if you take offence to what I said, but I still
believe that it is the American psyche, like you
demonstrated, that is the cause of the problems. Whether the
means and consequences are justified or not is irrelevent.

No country is perfect, but America has to face up to it's
responsibility or else this will just happen again and
again. No amount of 'wars against terrorism' will stop it
and worldwide terrorism cannot be stopped with bombs.

i think that it's an insane tradgedy, but too many people
are taking it way personally.
there's this lame ass page some where, where some dude did a
memorial for the 9/11 victims, but it's like, he made 8 or 9
banners with pictures of people from various anime's and
ffx, looking sad, and like "to the dearly departed of
9/11". which to me, just seems to defile their memory.
also, my ex was bitching about how people in africa starve
to death, but they don't get round the clock coverage. then
i had to point out to her THAT THEY DIDN"T GET RUN OVER BY A
FUCKING PLANE.
this is america's problem. we're like fair-weather friends
to our selves. "OH SHIT. PEOPLE DIED HARDCORE, LETS PUT
FLAGS ON OUR CARS TO FIGHT TERRORISM"i'm not saying we
should have flags on our cars always (never, i think), but
it's really... i want to say hypocritical, but i don't think
it's the right word, to only care when there's a crisis.
some lady called my friend at work (he's a deli boy at a
grocery store) and asked if they had any small plastic
american flags, he said no, she said "how un-american" and
hung up.
now, if it were me she called, i would've *69'ed her ass and
told her that if she's so god damn american, she should have
all the fucking flags she needs.
this is why america was cornholed.

we're fucking full of our selves. my history teacher said
they were jealous of our democracy and how great america is.
the point is, she's the reason they did it. they're sick of
american's being so fucking full of them selves. this was to
show us that "hey, you're not so fucking great, look what we
can do. POWEE"
it's america's fault as much as it is bin laden's.

did you that george w bush reversed clinton's policy of
keeping up tight airport security? possibly would have
helped thwart the "arab" terrorists...

...also, whilst clinton was keen on mediating in the middle
east conflicts/keeping on good terms with them all, his
right-wing successor, one george w bush, effectively told
them to fuck off and sort out their own problems (of course,
america had NOTHiNG to do with helping create those
problems)

roygbivcore has a nice point, well thought out. However, I
think you are missing a good part of this.

American policy is fucked, I agree. I say this based on a
few things:
1)foreign policy, why the fuck are we the worlds police?
2)politicians are elected by slining mud and making
promises, we don't have citizens in office, we have public
opinion robots
3)there is no reform without something like a big tradgey,
people don't make it happen on their own

In that, America is wrong, I admit it. However, reform
needs to come from the American people and it's politicans.
Once you force reform through violence, not even civil
disobediance, just mindless violence, reason goes out the
window and nothing is going to be solved.

Our hand was forced, and if you think anyone has going to
watch their family, their brother or sister get shot and not
go after the killer, you aren't human.

It is reactionary becuase reform is being forced from
outside this country, not within. Reform in foreign policy
should have come years ago, this wouldn't have happened. Or
maybe then you get into people hating our capitalism, but
still, reformed shouldn't have come to being forced, it
should have happened long ago, sad.

Again, I think this is a thread, even with our UK friends,
that shines about the greatness of free countries, America
included, and that was my only point from before.
