tempo experimentation?

i work primarily in 180, but ive noticed you can layer 120
loops on top of 180 loops(depending on the loops you layer)
and you get interesting triplets being that 120 is 2/3 of
180 mathmatically. a friend of mine also mixes 135 and 180
which is harder but doable if you keep the 135 downs and ups
on certain counts only(which i dont remember what they are
but you can mathmatically figure it out using milliseconds)
also mixing 3/4 time and 4/4 time is interesting, or
bouncing back and forth between them.

does anyone have any experiences similar or new ideas i
could try?

ive tried what you explained here.... it sounds strange and
sometimes near the end or/start depending on which you
started with, when they connect again it sounds off..

you can do more drill'ish effect in high speed, but it can
also get confusing

sometimes yes it doesnt work but if you play with different
patterns and different tempos you can get some of them to
mix well and it ends up giving you very good speratic beats
that seem to be playing together.

yeah im going to try to work in 360 soon. but really you
can do the same thing in half speeds if you just do more
16th or 32nd notes or 64ths. but i understand that working
at double speed makes the programming a little more
unexpectedly drill.

in cool edit you can tell the tempo of a loop to change
gradually between two points to assigned tempos. im
wondering if you do this with several loops and several
different tempo changes and then layer them all on top of
each other if you can actually achieve rhythms that would
still be rhythmic. it would only work if done in the right
way.

Theres a piece of Art currently running in London....

It's a sound installation with about 6 loops of various
lengths...apparently it'll take 1000yrs for them all to
reach sync...

Think it started on 01/01/2000 and will go on til the yr
3000....

I'll get some more details if anyone is interested.....

In fruity loops three i like to sometimes alter the tempo of
the tune over time at the end of a set period before
something is about to happen (example a speeded up sound of
a kettle boiling). The increase / decrease / increase in
tempo sounds quite funny before the next thing that is about
to happen. Something then happens and it sounds quite funny.
Quite a "cute" sound is you want to be gay about it. Or a
sound which makes you follow it around the back of the
computer screen, you follow it and expect to see a little
baby monster asleep (not an evil monster), (probably a
monster made from half jelly / half fur).

It is quite hard to explain in words, rather than sounds.

fruityloops-track?

thats really freaking cool about that art thing. the only
thing is i dont know any art museum that would keep
something for 1000 years.

change tempo in fruityloops.. right click the tempo thing
and it gives you the option to edit events.

yeah tihs confused me for a bit, how they could put such
manic drums on top of such ambient slow noises. its not hard
to tell I suppose but that's only now
