slightly more enjoyable now that its been a while... but i still think its a bad album... but it can be appreciated for the fact that it takes dissapline to make something so simple knowing that you could do so much more with it if you wanted to. and it takes dissapline to record all those darn bells and symbols and such.

My current quote limits what I am allowed to say on this subject... but I am going to volunteer that I don't think it was discipline that caused cylob to make that album that simple.
I have very little respect for cylob. I feel he has very little tallent, and would not have much of a musical carreer if it werent for his friends. Not to mention the fact that he acts like an immature prick whenever you make comments he doesn't like about his music.

I don't think RDJ really cares, as long as the records are selling.

dear taxidermist, cylob was signed to rephlex on the strength of a demo like everyone else.
He is friends with rephlex because he has worked with rephlex for 8 years and you become friends over that period of time.
Listen to moodbells more and it makes a lot of sense - it's very tuneful and beautifully made.
And Cylob is a nice guy - he probably just doesn't like to be hassled by people.

I laugh when I hear mood bells. In fact I piss my pants it is such a funny album. Music at its best. I don't often laugh when I listen to music. Give the man a hand for his genius.

I actually really like "Cut the Midrange...." - I think it's funny. It's not brilliant musically, but it's not supposed to be. It's just funny, and sounds reasonably original.
I really like Cylob: one of my favourite Rephlex artists. I like his silliness.

''damn such behaviour sucks, don´t it!! do you think afx would react same? ''
Joyrex mentioned in an Email to Richard that he thought Drukqs was ''OK''...
And RDJ found it offensive... he thinks it's brilliant. And now he won't get in touch with Joyrex again. So RDJ seems pretty damn protective of his music, like Cylob... probably even more-so!

I am sorry. People will hand out the label brilliant to anyone who makes a wanky atmospheric album, reguardless of how piss poor the effort is. Saw II was brilliant. Mood Bells was not.
I think an artist, especially one who is published, should show the maturity to accept the fact that some people might not like them. I can see why richard d james would react that way with an established fansite. I doubt he would act that way towards a regular fan.
Back when Cylob became a Rephlex artist, wasn't RDJ quoted as saying he only signed his friends? And that it didn't always matter whether their music was any good?
