I just saw this on DVD (bought it at the weekend). Probably
the most moving film I have seen (with the possible
exception of "Betty Blue"). I recommend it to anyone who
hasn't seen it. It's absolutely brilliant.

What I think people need to realise about Nabokov before
they brand him a dirty old man is that he is probably the
greatest fiction writer of all time. He's also a master at
making you feel compassion for his characters, no matter how
vile their actions. I think that's a good thing.

i saw both films ceri mentioned... lolita and betty
blue....
I have to say I really prefer betty blue (if you mean the
french film from the mid 80ies) it was really moving for
me...
ceri, if you like betty blue, you'll definitely like "one
deadly summer"... it's brilliant as well...

I tried to read the book (by Nabokov) for school recently,
but I gave up after reading two pages. Too difficult :(

saw the movie though. it was allright. the storyline is very
good and original
