1 Second Silence?

How can I eliminate the 1 second silence at the start and
end of mp3s? It really buggers up my mix cds and mp3.com
albums that are continuous.

It's time consuming, but you can convert to .wav, do a fade
out in package such as cooledit then burn to CD.

Or get a winamp plugin like "gapless output" or an auto
crossfading one...

This is a problem with a few mp3 encoders. If you're using
the lame encoder, you can try to fix the problem with the
--nogap and --nogapout options (but these are still
experimental).

There are plugins for winamp that do gapless playback, but
they don't solve the original problem.

Ahh, so it's the encoding that messes it? I'd love to use
wavs on mp3.com, but it's unfortunatly not possible and
would take a decade to upload that tracks, even if they were
supported. I use Acid Pro 3.0 to encode mp3s, I think that's
sonic foundrys own encoder.

Yeah, me too... wonder why? I thought it was a part of mp3
compression, but it must be a fault. Is here a really decent
encoder that DOESNT add silence?

Have you tried the lame encoder with the options I
mentioned? I can't use them because they don't with VBR
files, but it might work with ABR.

mortsto-x, you can do this pretty easily with wav files.
Select all the files and right-click "properties." There
will be option to decrease the gap to 0 seconds. Then when
you burn the disc be sure it's disc-at-once burning.

double-click the slot where it says 2sec and it opens a
menu... now change it to 0. voilá.
