speakin gibberish twisted my tongue upside down with the
veined side up..so...

I just love this song..anytime I put on Hard Normal Daddy I
cant progress past track2 until I have played it atleast
three or four times..these melodies are just so
beautiful..bringing a lump to my throat every time..I mean
people keep saying how "happy" SP's music is..I dont know I
keep finding layers of bittersweet sadness in tracks like
this and so many of the tracks on Feed me weird thing...

am I just weird?

I think there is sadness in his music, look at massif, ufo
over ley or goodnight jade.

The melody to this certainly has a sad tinge to it. I think
it's because of the fast drums that people naturally assume
his stuff is upbeat, even when it's a bit melancholy.

Thanks for pointing this track out, I'd DLed it but only
played it once and not noticed how good it is.

Which album(s) are massif and UFO over Ley off?

UFO over Ley is Feed me..I am sure..
massif is big loada..but I may be wrong..

i agree 100%
ive been listening to this track non stop for the past few
months...
and youre right...there really is a sort of melancholy
undercurrent in a lot of his tracks...especially this one..i
love when tracks have that distinct but undefined emotional
quality...a lot of aphex's stuff does too
its too bad he put it so early into the tracklisting of hard
normal daddy though...the rest of the album just cant live
up to this track

i think beep street and my sound are tied as my favorite
tracks...by anyone, let alone squarepusher

yeaaa..not senile yet..I imparted correct info about
tracks...

I mean I like Hard Normal a lot..some really excellent songs
on there..Papalon is once again very soulful and melodic...
but yeah it's pretty hard goin past the Beep Street and get
to the rest:)

what about lambic5poetry?..that's the other one that stops
me in my tracks..

i haven't listened to thaT TRACk in such a long time..
but it;s so awesome!
i love it

i think aphex's equivalent track to beep street would be
flim...and girl boy song now that i think of it
upbeat sounding...with a bright, cheerful melody and fast
beats... but on flim theres those little secondary melodies
..like the little violin one that comes in after a few
minutes..

and girl boy has that upbeat, dramatic, bittersweet end of
movie feel to it, similar to beep street, ive always
thought

then of course theres tracks like avril 14th, petiatil cx
htdui, melphase6, mookid, alberto balsam, rhubarb...etc

yeah...iambic 5 poetry is definitely one of those tracks...
papalon, rat/ p's and q's and rebus are probably the best
tracks that come after beep street...but they still dont
come as close..

ive been listening to his chaos ad song 'friend track' a lot
lately and i would say it has a similar mood...but its
*never* mentioned

Not wishing to blow my (our) own trumpet, but the ending of
your remix of gaussian and my mix of UTFM are both growing
on me and sound quite []pusherish...

yeah, SP's music is among some of the most emotional music
i've got. I myself was going to say Goodnight Jade, its a
very sad song.

I do like beep street a lot, I find theme from ernest
borgnine pretty emotional too

For a long time I totally lost interest in Squarepusher.
Then someone sent me 'Beep Street' and it got me back into
them.

I think that selection 16 is excellent. The good tracks are
amazing and so made it well worth it IMo. Tommorrow world is
one of his best. definitely.

Ohhh yeah, Beep Street is awesome... it was one of the first
Squarepusher tracks I downloaded, and it definitely helped
get me hooked on the drug called Jenkinson...

I know what you mean by drug, I just want more and more of
his quality tracks. When you finally get into them for the
first time, there's a great feeling

Yep, but probably the best (The Dunes) was done almost
entirely with simsynth and it loses its settings so it
sounds crap. Thankfully, I burnt it to MP3 (which you can
get from my "alternate house" directory), the others I'm
emailing now...

yeah me too...its like what i said in that 'sp vs µ-ziq'
thread...even though µ-ziq's stuff is quite similar...and
at times mind-blowingly beautiful...sp still affects me more
emotionally..than most artists..not just µ-ziq...
in that sense, a lot of his stuff has been more important to
me than a good deal of aphex's

I love Selection 16..it's brilliant moody and very
atmospheric..I picture it as a soundtrack for an angst
ridden Japanese soap opera about half organic mecha
destroying cities and then feeling all melancholic..about
it..

If I had to get rid other either afx or SP, it'd be aphex.
I'm not saying aphex's music lacks emotion, it can just
sound a bit too clinical at times for my liking, even more
so with Ae

heheh...never thought about it that way..

but i do like selection16 also...its definitely the best of
the 'trilogy' he released that year...it just seems like its
less appreciated than his other albums

beep street, cooper's world, port rhombus, and smedley's
melody: the four songs i heard one day in 1997 that made me
a squarepusher fan for life.

I dont know..Aphex has tons of emotional stuff..far less
clinical than ae..just his melodies has a slightly different
ring to em..melodies from mars is quite an apt description
of his sligthly alien and tweaked melodic work..Arched Maid
Via RDJ..for one..it just sticks in my head..it's not sad
it's not happy and yet very very moving...

Squarepusher at his best is definitely pretty much
flawless... very impressive music, I noticed people who
don't know him always shut up and listen when I Wish You
Could Talk or something mindblowing like that is playing...
that fucker DEMANDS attention, he's so good.

That used to be my favorite track off Hard Normal Daddy, I
thought it was amazing, but recently I have been entranced
by Rustic Raver.

Oh my god Rustic Raver blows my fucking mind. Its just
awesome and then gets jazzy for a second and then turns into
this fucking evil wicked drum n bass.. drool....

desperation being expressed

tho recently i've been very much appreciating esp. track 4
off analogue bubblebath IV ..
