Is this album any good? I absolutely love Orbital from what
I've heard, and that's a nice bit... but I haven't heard
anything from this album, but I've read a lot of shining
reviews... I think I'm gonna try and hunt this one down
next, but is it any good?

yep you do love Orbital:)

"forever", "science friction" and "attached" are like the
mellower tracks on ICBYD....

generally its a bit more laid back than the more thumping
"brown" album .

"Are we here " is good but the remix 12" has better mixes
than the LP version.

All in all, its about on-par with "in-sides" but lacks the
punch of "Brown". Far better than their most recent efforts,
which , when you've been into Orbital since 1990 like me ,
show no progression or imagination.

buy it :0)

yes yes yes yes, I love Orbital... they're one of my
favorite electronic groups... I plan on getting all their
albums, but yes, I think I'll get this one next... or try to
anyways... :)

and the picture on the front cover is interesting.
they like playing on words (thier song titles) and imagery.
Which is a sign of a kind of playful anarchy IMO. Bit like
aphex. I don't think they take themselves 2 seriously, as ,
say , Moby .... or ...hmm.. dare I say... BOC?

orbital's amazing, that's all there is to it, although i was
disapointed with their new album....i wish they would go
back to their original style.

Yeah, I was dissapointed with Disc 1 on The Alltogether, but
then I think that it's a good thing. I mean, I'm glad
Orbital is trying new things on all their albums, and not
making repetive albums after another, that's the great thing
about them.

As for Snivilization, yes it's pretty good. My favorite
track is 'Forever.' I would suggest getting if I were you.

I need that one and the Brown album, and I'll have the big
four I guess... well, the big three at least... whatever...
:)

first 4 albums everyone should own
next 2 are weak
last couple of remixes of funny break & Illuminate have been
excellent

well, my big four included the brown album through to middle
of nowhere... but then I said three cause middle of nowhere
is kinda hit and miss for a lot of people it seems... I like
it though, but it's not close to being as good as In Sides I
don't think...

the box EP and times fly are well trippy. and the peel
sessions EP is also excellent.

are we here is one of my favorite songs, hands down. i can't
imagine the remixes being much better, so i guess i'll have
to track them down. (mmm... good music to look forward too.)

i've only got snivilization, times fly ep, and the brown
album but i love snivilization almost all the way through.
kind of interesting that most hardcore orbital fans don't
like it much... is it that much of a change from... the
yellow album, insides, or middle of nowhere?

I only own In Sides and Middle of Nowhere... I love In
Sides, and Middle of Nowhere is pretty damn good... but it's
more dancy... and can get tiring I already find...

My best friend has snivilization and he says it sucks. The
only bad orbital, in his opinion. I haven't listened to it
yet...probably should.

Snivilization is a great album IMHO.
I don't like 'Middle of Nowhere', for me it was the
disappointment of the year....

Snivilization is a good album.
Not their best, but by no means their worst.
Its prolly their third best, IMO.

It's their second best album (In Sides), if not their best.
there are so many great tracks on it; Forever, Science
Friction, I Wish I Was A Duck (not sure of the title), Sad
But True, Crash And Carry....and it goes on and on...9/10

Do yourself a favour and BUY IT!!!

all albums before "in sides" are classic and "in sides" is a
masterpiece with no analoge in the histiry of electronic
music, i think.
I hoped orbital were trying to release the pressure after
"in sides" with the next two albums, cause i didn't like
them a lot.
but i've just read in their official site that they're going
to release a "retrospective collection '89-'02" with only
one new track on it...
?
i hope this doesn't mean what those kinda things usually
mean - "we have nothing more to say, we have no more ideas,
so we should make some money with our old stuff, cause it's
great..."

Brown album is AWESOME! it changed my life back in 93 and
got me into the whole electronic music / techno thang

but back then Orbital were probably considered more techno
than electronica, that's why so many people were
disappointed by Snivilisation as it wasn't very upbeat

yeah, I looked at the track listing for that album, and it's
stupid... they have songs like The Box, and I think even The
Girl With The Sun In Her Head shortened down to like 3 or 4
minutes... what's the sense in doing that? It's stupid...

and well, if Snivilization is less upbeat, I should like it
methinks... I do like most of there dancier stuff, but I'm
more fond of more laid back music, like BoC and stuff...

Illuiminate is a great track on their new album... good ol'
ultra catchy melody just like the old days...

who remembers chime on top of the pops?
