it's an amazing album, so many great tracks, but my
favorites are demon stration and rand va.

So far I like rand vc2 the best (I've had it as an mp3 for
awhile and it's the reason i bought the album.) I have only
heard 4 tracks so far: 1,2,3,9

He has such simple prototype beats, but then they mutate in
hundreds of different directions constantly and seemingly
effortlessly.

yeah, even though i love funkstörung, i think i prefer some
of their solo work better. Both are very talented and make
great music.

I havn't heard chris de luca's solo work. I'm pretty sure
his cd is hard to find (havn't really tried yet) but I
suppose the mp3's would be easy to find and... steal,
provided soulseek worked on my computer.

chris has only released two 12", but good stuff
nevertheless. You can hear some samples at funkstörung.com.
I guess they are working on a new album too, can't wait to
hear it!

I heard they were planning an album with all voice samples,
I wonder if that's the one. Yeah, I've been to
funkstorung.de if that's what you meant, it's funny how they
just loop a piece of the song infinitely. It kind of sounds
good that way... People say he gave way too much praise to
Crunch, but I definately think Crunch deserves it.

fakesch's marion is really good. i wish he'd do another
album. also, check out andre estermann and aemic, which is
the duo composed of fakesch and estermann.

mmmhh.. i've been investigating this album for a while ..
good to hear good things about it.

hey M: one of the local cd stores has a website, and when
one looks up crunch, not only does 1/nullpluze come up ..
there's a "laurel EP" and "music to sweat to" .. u heard
anything bout these??

I am just listening to it..excellent stuff..so similar and
yet so different from Funkstorung stuff..the main difference
seems to be the melodies..very delicate and fragile compared
to the muscular and bassy melodies of the F...more
glitch..always good:)..but I have the mp3 version and
something very peculiar going on..the kpbs seem to be
jumping around all over the place to the beat..I am on
winamp..from 32 to 332 to 192..128..changes with each
beat..anyone else has that going on?

rrrrgh, I wish soulseek would work! I just looked up "crunch
laurel" and sure enough at least 2 matches came up on
google, I've never even heard of laurel or music to sweat
to.... tipper, the guy behind crunch does some quite
conventional stuff too I'm pretty sure, I wonder if these
albums are bassy/normalish or hyper insanely intricate
striking like some tracks in "1/nullpluze". Some tracks in 1
are so indescribably good. Have you heard track 3 in otto
von schirach's "8000 bc" that's an EXCELLENT track too, it's
hyper intricate and insane and even has an ambient ending
(the best "ambience" I've heard) I think someone else worked
on that track with him too (according to the cd booklet),
mr. soundwave or someone else whoever that is, I wanna hear
their solo stuff...

offline w M w from London (United Kingdom) on 2002-05-03 10:18 [#00204257]

I have no idea why it does that. I think some of their high
tech gadgets totally fuck everything up, heh heh. like the
otto von schirach 8000... bc, uh cd has this ring, ... like
a complex oil colorful stain on it, I suppose that's some
weird pattern created from all the complex data crammed as
efficiently as possible in there, heh heh, plus the booklet
smelled like a weird machine.

I expect the cd player to turn into a time machine or
something with some of the data these madmen feed it.

I think they make better music on their own then as
Funkstörung.
Chris de Lucas stuff can be really inovating at times....
Anyone agree?

Thanks colonymike!! Tooooo bad it's 12 inch though, it seems
like they'd make more money selling cds. If it was a cd, I'd
buy it in a second.

how is chris de luca's music? each time i order online, i
want to buy his untitled ep but i always change my mind at
the end. should i buy it next time? i heard it has a more
hip-hop feel than fakesch.

I disagree with Sido here..Funkstorung..is still my
favourite..and Chris De Luca...hmmm...I still getting used
to the Unknown EP...it's very..hmm...serene...the synthwork
is very lush and a tad overproduced...not much innovation to
speak of..very mid era autechre..while on the three official
Funkstorung releases..they have very definetly carved out a
niche and a sound a mile away from the ever looming shadow
of autechre...Michael Fakesch's Marion has a lot more
innovation and experimental streak...Chris De Luca's
Untitled EP is extremely beautiful and melodic but still
severely glitched music...
a less harder edged sligthly over produced Funkstorung
without the muscular bass and rhytm work or the ever present
strains of hiphop..
