i just got a new maxtor HD, and don't know how to set the
pumpers to slave...here's what it looks like now...

o o- o () o
|
o o o o o

the uppler left has a slide /w the bottom left, then the one
next to the upper left has a slide /w the one to the right
of it...the parenthesis mean that there is no "peg"
there...the current configuration (i'm guessing) is a
master, because it is clean, and when i plug it and my
normal one up, and my PC boots up, i get a blank black
screen, where windows should be...

thanks!

the HD should have a sticker on it, who let you see how to
set the jumper....

mostly ms (master) sl (slave) cs (cable select) if you only
use one HD, set it to Master... if you use 2 HD's set the
one to master, the toher to slave, simple...

i'm running two HD's, and this new one needs to be the
slave...there's not a sticker that tells me how to set it as
slave...i useually run 2 dh's, and i'm just replacing the
old slave /w this one..

Did you get any documentation with it?
Are there any markings engraved near the jumpers?
Try the manufacters website.

Hope this helps...

look exactly at the green chip board near the pins... i'm
sure there's something who inform you, i think you should
set the jumpers only perpendicularly at the first time...

i didn't get a manual, or any cabels with it, just the
HD...yes, i'm pretty pissed...i'll look at it again for
anything that i might have missed, and i have checked out
maxtor.com, but i couldn't find anything...i'm going to surf
over there in a sec, to try again...
