well, ive done it (sort of)

i (think) im starting to get 2 people into good electronic
music

CASE #1:
this guy is a big radiohead fan... and hes just BARELY heard
of aphex twin (recognised the name, but thats it)
so ive discussed music w/ him a lot in the past
he likes PROPELLERHEADS as electronic music
then, last week, i leant him the RDJ album
(i figured it would be a good place to start)
i haven't had a chance to discuss it in depth yet, but so
far, he said he likes it (some songs more than others)
hm.. so ill have to see what he liked and didn't, and adjust
the dossage (hehe) of electronica from there, to get him
completely addicted!

CASE #2
this guy already likes SOME electronica, some punk, some
different stuff...
well, definitly NOT pop music
he already makes some electronic music w/ fruityloops and
progs like htat, but surprisingly (actually, not so) he
hasn't heard of squarepusher
so, i hooked him up with hard normal daddy
he likes it.. a LOT!
he said there were only a couple songs on it that DIDN"T
reallly "inspire" him!

!!!WOOHOO!!!

i feel like im spreading some new religion or something:)
"follow me, my brothers and sisters":)

yeah I lent one of my friends some Aphex Twin, and
Autechre... he said he thought the Aphex Twin was alright,
it was I Care Because You Do, but I don't think he liked the
Autechre too much... it was Chiastic Slide...

i REALLY want to know more peopl (in perosn, not over the
net) who are interested in the same music as me
i think most of u know how i must feel... its just that its
such a major part of my life (well, its THE big thing for
me, like hockey to a hockey player or something)
..yet i dont know anyone my age whos interested in it the
way i am
i have to one to talk to/discuss/ etc w/
*boohoo* :*(

i hope i dont sound whiny here...
...im not trying for sympathy here or anytying;)

I feel it, man. I am experiencing a great thing these days,
since my brother is getting very much into my favorite band,
the pat metheny group. He "gets" it now, and we will speak
to each other and point out a certain part of a song, and we
both just get excited talking about that one or two seconds
in that song. cool.

But in the end, it's just YOU who is really into the music.
I mean, when you are deeply into the groove and all that
exists is the music for you, then it makes no difference who
else likes it. Nothing makes any difference anymore. You
are so into the music that nothing else matters, at least
that's how I get when I am intensely in the moment of
hearing my favorite tunes.

I got a music major kid into Autechre.

"Fold 4, Wrap 5" warped his fucking head :) he hasn't been
the same since.

ya, i know what u mean
when im listening and enjoying music, i dont care about
other people liking it
its just for me

but, unfortunately, the other hours of the day, when i have
to put up with other humans..... i cant discuss this thing
that i am SO interested in..... MUCH more so than sports, or
the weather, or which girl is hotter

(well... maybe not more than which girl is hotter;)

no, just kidding :)

i got dave (from this mb) into this shit.
i don't really remember how it happened, i think i just
played him some stuff for a while, and he eventually got
into it.
i dunno.

i wanna get my sister into it too, so she stops playing damn
pop shit all the time and starts playing autechre :)

MATT CHAN my best friend in a pop/punk/emo/core band is now
an addict! he is able to appreciate music for the artistic
creative talented aspect of it. when i first got MTV's AMP
(that was the first i heard RDJ anything) i played him
boy/girl song, they way RDJ bends the cymbals is
fucking....like whoa! so i slowly tried to get him to hear
it but he said it sounded too much like utter trash and
noise. i continued my pursuit and just recently well about
a year ago i got an import with some more straight ahead
style shit and was like you gotta like this man and he was
all i can see the light now! he said that before he didn't
like it because he couldn't perdict what he would hear next.
he said you just kinda have to listen to it like what i'm
about to hear makes no sense and then it makes sense. so i
made him two kinda sample intro cds. one has ambient more
mellow stuff like 1-6 of SAW and 1st track from afx ab1 and
2nd track from afx ab4 and some shit off the import like pac
man, let my fish loose, at the heart of it all and
spotlight. the other has the more harder shiznick like
windowlicker, equation and nannou. ctd, bbb, flim, iz-us,
track 3 and track 7. and track 10 from afx ab3. i just
loaned him ICBYD and POLYGON WINDOW.

goddamnit..... ive FAILED!!!!
(at least partially)

the guy..... (in case #1) said it was ok.. JUST ok!
he said electronic is alright when ur stoned or something...
otherwise its too boring.. (this guy doesn't do drugs, so im
pretty sure he meant it in a derrogitory way!)
apparently, he only likes 'lighter, funnier' electronic
music... (like kid koala).. he cant take it seriously as
serious music
pffffftt...
i mean, kid koalas alright... but i dont see how u cant at
least see that it can be serious and also very good...

oh well, ill just have to crucify him

(btw: case#2 is still proceding nicely)
