What instruments would you guys like to play and master
that you never had? I always wish i could get my hands on a
sitar and add that to my collection

yeah, a sitar would be sweet!!! But for me, the guitar, or
even the bass guitar would be sweet to learn...

stuff...

learning to play piano is nothing... but mastering it is a
BIG something!! I would love to actually know about
chords... it would make making music so much easier!!

I would like to play and master the piano and cello. Drum /
rhythm systems as well. Music theory. And would like to
elaborate on an instrument and create something new like
John Cage did with the piano (prepared piano). I feel I'm
an experimentalist.

Funkmaster: I guess thats why people attend universities
and take music theory? I didn't know learning chords could
be so hard / tricky. I wanna take up piano.

Definitely a stringed instrument, sitar is an incredible
choice. I'm going to se Ravi Shankaar on Friday, I think
this is his final tour. I wish I could be in an orchestra
during one of bach or mozart's original performances.

Xantos, I play the didgeridoo and it's more awsome than can
be described.

I really wish I was better at piano. I'm horrible w/ chords
and reading music. It's very frustrating. I don't seem to
be getting any better either.

Jupitah: I have a didgeridoo in my bedroom. My brother
gave it to me for my birthday. How do you play it?

well I'm sure learning the chords can't be that hard... but
I mean a more deeper understanding of what the chords sound
like, and all that stuff...

eh mon, make like a raspberry, ya know, like babys do with
their lips. the backpressure of the didj will make for a
tighter vibration thought. just try doing one of those and
manipulate the tension of your lips and experiment until you
get a tone. it's much easier to learn on some than others,
and there are a lot of suvenier didgeridoos that don's sound
too hot... dunno what yours is like. i'll let you know
about circular breathing after you get some tone down.

I wanna be the first guy to make the Electronic Didjeridoo
lol. Put that sucker into an amp lol.

offline jupitah from Minneapolis (United States) on 2002-04-28 05:12 [#00197255]

yep, and you get that vibration and can allow spit to fly
all over you like. also, most people hold the didgeridoo up
to the center of their mouth, but I put it to the side a
bit. i don't know why, but it allows me to control the tone
manipulations better. others have agreed it is easier for
them, but you just have to be serious really and experiment
for a while. the key is to have fun, honestly, cause you
can't play it like your a machine with a duty, you got to
want to enjoy it and don't take it like a disipline.

there's a local band i have yet to see, a guy has numerous
pvc pipe didgeridoos, but he modified them by placing a
spring of some sort inside and plucks the spring through a
hole he cut on the side... and they have a bunch of
synthesizers and such. i must see them soon.

call me a faggot but the piano would be pretty fuckin' cool
to know how to be good at it.

maybe the sax or trumpet, might as well toss trombone in
there while were at it. guitar/bass.

i have three goals in life (all of them pretty fuckin'
trivial), to: own a set of gaolie pads (that way i can know
what the goalie is thinkin' when i play out), own all the
cd's i used to have and ever wanted to have and owning a
drum set. everthing else is secondary to those three goals.
then of course there is third and fourth and fifth etc etc.

I play guitar, and I used to love it... I'm pretty good at
it. But discovering electronic music has really lessened the
appeal of guitars and that kind of thing... just seems to
limiting.

I would fucking LOVE to be able to play piano, just master
it... but I don't have the patience.
