Any of you guys in Canada, got any sightseeing hints and
tips for me. I going to Toronto next Thurday! Good places
that I should look out / or avoid?

(Thanks AMinal for your email!)

BTW is the weather better than it was a few weeks ago?

Cue Ophecks saying you should see a hockey match :)

I'd like to see a hockey match out there! But might not have
the time - I'll have to settle for just buying a hockey
shirt home instead!!

or you will sound like some kind of fag and get your ass
kicked

the cn tower is pretty impressive. the highest view in the
world, i believe. you can see the niagara falls when the
weather is clear, they say. also the zoo is really nice, imo

of fact.

Explain Amonbrune about the 'eh?s'.....and what do people
refer to 'hockey matches' in Canada as then? (Re:Dave's
post)

Try to say eh? lots. I hear Toronto is very polite so don't
abuse that lol. Canadian Bacon made us saying "sorry" lots
famous / infamous. Uhh what else...try some hotdogs and
bacon and ... our water. See what you think of our water.
And see if you can find milk in plastic baggies. Yes, in
Canada you can buy milk in bags. Serious.

I love Canada.... The CN was an absolute blast! Fucking long
wait tho.....

My relatives live in Kingston. We take the piss by saying
eh? and they take the piss by saying Bauls instead of balls.

hahaha.. toronto... friendly... the homeless people are
REALLY friendly (when theyre sober) they always say hi...
anyways.. i live here so heres a few tips. 1. cn tower.. ive
lived here for like 3 years and i still havent gone up. so
go, and tell me what its like. 2. the zoo if you have time.
god i love those lake otters... 3. i dunno bout the night
life.. all the clubs that are all ages are full of eurodance
*puke, puke* and i've yet to go to a rave... my friends are
all scared. ummm... downtown toronto has all sorts of wacky
stores... and 4. gimme some of those pounds.. i dunno how to
make the letter.... lol

weather report: a few weeks ago it was like shitty and
rainy... then it got REALLY warm.. like 25-30 degrees
celcius or centigrade or what have you.. now its around
10-16 or so.. sometimes windy.. sunny... it gets warm every
now and then.. hang on, lemme run outside with no shirt
on...... k, its a bit chilly, so wear a sweater or jacket...
and enjoy. dont give the bums any money. its like when you
had gum in school. if you give some to one kid, you gotta
give some to all the other kids. travel safely when u
actually travel here

yeah, don't use 'eh'... you might get your ass kicked... we
are stereotyped as saying 'eh' all the time, but I have yet
to hear a Canadian say it for real...

Grab a bike and check High Park out! Lotta flowers, green
stuff :) (if you like it:) Easy to find just jump on the
subway and look for High Park on the map.

Also dont forget to see Niagara. That's a total shock. Half
day trip though, so if you dont have time, maybe you cannot
make it.
Last time I was renting a car, the exact distance to Niagara
was covered in a very low price. Look around Holiday Inn, if
you want to find the rental company.
At the first time we went with Greyhound, it sucked because
we had to walk thrugh Niagara Falls. Hehe.

Funkmaster: what are you talking about? I use 'eh?'
sometimes. When asking a question i say 'no' at the end
instead of 'yeah' like some europeans here do. I guess
that's the french in me, no? But I carry no steriotypical
accent with my 'eh?'s... But I do use them.

offline psycho-minus from toronto (Canada) on 2002-04-26 22:10 [#00195799]

lol everyone says 'eh'... just not "how ya doin eh? wanna
come down to ol' mclarneys pub for a drink eh? and then
we'll go lumberjacking eh?"

its more like... i cant explain, but not like that! no
accent in the cities either.. the accent thats stereotyped
is the maritime one... not that its a bad thing funkmaster
lol... im a martimer.. born in fredericton =D but bred in
ontario lol.

Maritime like in the eastcoast? lol Funkmaster might have
that accent. That would be sweet eh? Im not too familiar
with the east. What makes up the maritimes?

well the NHL playoffs are on so i doubt ull be albe to get
tickets to a hockey GAME ;)..... but at least watch it in a
pub or something
then u can watch canadians in their natural habitat...

btw, canadian beer is supposed to be very good
MUCH better than american beer (im not trying to be
competative here, im just saying
ive heard this from a lot of americans
in fact, ive never heard an american disagree on it)
anyways, so if ur a beer drinker, have a molson and watch a
hockey game in a pub
(if the leafs are still in the playoffs)

Where I am, Cape Breton, it's pretty, but it's... boring as
hell. The Atlantic Provinces are sleep inducing. But I've
never been out of them...

Whatever you do, go to a hockey game, damn right! Go to a
Leafs/Islanders game, there's bad blood between them and the
games will be awesome.

Or better yet... go to Montreal and watch the
Canadiens/Bruins series, now THAT is hockey!!! The next game
should be brutal, awesome hockey.

Montreal just beat Boston, which makes me very happy. You
should go to Montreal to watch them put the nail in the
Bruins' coffin in game 6. Of course, you won't... but you
should!

I guess you support the Montreal team as opposed to Boston?
;)

Although I'm spending most of my time in Toronto during the
daytime, I'm actually staying with friends in Burlington.
They work in Toronto so I'm gonna get dropped off in the
mornings to go 'exploring' :)

I'm also going to Niagara Falls next Sunday - I've got a
helicopter ride booked as well! I've never been in a
helicopter before. In fact Canada will be the furthest I
have ever travelled. I've been all over Europe before, but
never across the Atlantic!

... I can't wait!

Oh fuck, every time Montreal wins, I get so happy and
excited... when they lose, I'm borderline suicidal... damn
right I'm a Montreal fan!!!

Blech, I hate Toronto... I like Quebec and I like British
Columbia... I kind of like the Atlantic Provinces, too. But
Ontario and the prairies... ick! :-) I think I just need an
ocean near me.

I know what you mean about having the sea near you. I'm sat
here at my computer now, and although it is nightime here, I
can see the sea. When I've been away and I'm 'inland' I tend
to loose my bearings, when I cannot see the coast. When I
see the coast here I know I'm looking south!
