Lol, I read that this morning, I can't remember where it was
linked from but yes, ... cool story.

I've felt unusually happy all day, I feel purged, cleansed
after reading it, like the author took all these bad images
and impressions and concepts and ritualistically vomited
them out for us.

Who knew a Joker origin story could be so satisfying!

you know the real fun thing is that historically the modern
men's rights movement evolved from men-only groups for
profeminist discussion

heterocompatible feminism is cursed

Re The story, I felt like someone had farted on my brain. I
worried that this is where we are, ... It's a very powerful
piece but in no way did it make me feel "good" or "aha,
they've nailed it". It's just scary. I'd "OK Boomer" myself
if I was old enough.

it's satire, it's a horror story, it's not meant to solve
anything I think, it's a composite of all kinds of cultural
anxieties floating around in 2019 munged together into a
comically horrible worst case scenario - idpolitics, self
righteousness, narcissism, incel, active shooter, etc. it's
supposed to be a wuddyacallit, a contraceptive? it's
supposed to help you pupe. stop holding onto the terds

I couldn't identify with this feminist. Guess my problems
getting laid have nothing to do with feminism, but more with
my fat face and bad hygiene. I wish there was a identity
movement for people like me

I remember being 19 or 20 and 'getting laid' because I was
able to impress a feminist student with my knowledge of
Judith Butler ..I still feel very guilty til this day for
down-playing my dislike of Marx when she enthusiastically
talked about Marx because I was afraid it might annihilate
my chances. On the other hand that's the only time in my
life I consciously acted manipulatively in such matters so I
forgive myself ..

nah, i mean you have this whole thing of "men's studies"
which is a good intentioned offshoot of women's studies, or
the men's liberation movement
which got progressively detached from feminism and became
its own, inevitably misogynistic thing

///

of course it's a confluence of several thing, there's also
the mythopoetic movement which was all about men getting in touch
with their feelings and reading poems at trees

basically educating your oppressors is actually bad, which
is no wonder why that's a very popular thing to cheer for

Well, I'll just say that "The Feminist" is going over many
heads at the moment, both in progressive circles and on the
right-wing forums I monitor. While it's easy to to interpret
the piece as just a satirical critique of the "incel
movement" or feminism, Tulathimutte actually presents a
strong argument for the abolition of maleness. Obviously the
protagonist recognizes the oppressive, socially constructed
nature of maleness, given the list of authors cited in his
messageboard screed, and he understands how his own maleness
causes harm to himself and those around him, but
nevertheless he refuses to reject or even question it. To
lose the privileges conferred upon him by his maleness is
simply out of the question, never even to be considered.
This is the paradox of the "male feminist"—to be a
feminist is to reject patriarchy and its system of male
privilege, yet to identify as a male is to accept and
embrace that very same system. Thus the only conclusion we
can draw is that for the goals of feminism to be
achieved—for the abolition of patriarchy to be
achieved—maleness itself must be abolished.
