ok, so i went down to a huge HMV (music store) downtown
today, and, of course, went strait to the "dance" (shudder)
section of the store (an entire floor) to see what "IDM"
they had...

[dont worry, this story DOES get interesting]

i then went over to "Electronica/Acid Jazz"...

...and guess what they labeled Aphex Twin, Autechre and
Squarepusher as?

...."MUTILATED BEATS"

thats what it said in brackets below the artists names.....
(NOT "idm")

..cool eh?
ive never heard them described as that before...

Mutilated Beats!!!!!!

BWAAAHAHAHAHA!!! Oh my god, that is classic! I'd piss myself
right there in the store.

In this shit town, the Aphex Twin albums are in the rock/pop
section. And forget about finding any other type of IDM...
not even Geogaddi.

I hate looking in the dance section for IDM... first of all,
I HATE dancing, and I can't dance to this anyway. This is
the type of music I sit down and concentrate on, just law in
bed listening to Autechre or some SAW2... to be stuck in the
fucking DANCE section is just lame.

i saw a portishead cd in the store yesterday labeled as
"heavy metal"
a computer error? stupid employee? or is the 'glorytimes' ep
truely that distinct a departure from their normal style?

all the songs are more diferent on ICBYD the RDJ album just
seems overly produced and too repetitive to me imho.

repetitive?
Im starting to belive i don't understand the meaning of that
word anymore!?!?!
People here use that word in the strangest contexts???
RDJ album repetitive?

i find I Care Because You Do to be MUCH more repetative than
the RDJ album...

and the songs on it all sound much more similar to each
other than the RDJ album too
the production on RDJ is much better IMO
i dont find it over-produced... its just better
the sounds on it are way more varied and interesting than
ICBYD...
...IMHO
