do you remember the cheap Christmas wrapping paper you used
to get in the 80s it was really charming, everything now is
minimalist and looks like it was from ikea or something

well that’s just a bit too Christian with the holy and
candle, for Christmas.

its a holiday now. its more modern, y see.

you can get snow 'person' paper and shiny silver flashy
stuff.

y say happy holidays now. as Christmas was too nice and kind
and giving and wholesome and community building.

You may also offend people that want you dead.

and you cant do that else you go to prison.

I like that wrapping paper.

My girlfriend's christmas spirit isn't very well developed.
Perhaps because she's a Jewess born in the unholy Soviet
Union.

weird, how we spend big bank money to celebrate baby
Jesus's birth.

Surly it should be a no spending holiday spree. and we all
walk around with crosses.

I wonder who inspired all this spending?

"I wonder who inspired all this spending?"

yes interesting question,
must have happened during the booming economy era.
maybe it somewhat came from birthday gifts?
what were the first gifts anyway?
it was customary to give gifts along with the bride in
weddings. maybe that kind of expanded to other family
festivities.
just guessing here...

wiki says gifting around christmas can be traced back to
13th century,
but it doesnt hold any more information on its origin

celebrations, supressed and co-opted by the church, at least
we go Christmas trees and baubles out of it which I really
like
