do you think mixing with the following
-funkstorung/autechre/aphex/gescom/boc......can work well or
do you think it can become cheesey?????

if its in tune, in key and in time and in sequence then
anything mixed can sound good! cheesyness lies within the DJ
;)

if you mix fast IDM, i prefer a sampler on my gig, with 2
turntables and a pc. so if you have a plan what you mix
next, it is more interesting to loop a starting beat from a
track (ex. inkey$) and then crossfade with another loop (ex.
acroyear 2), reverse it, cut some beats out filtering,
modulation and so on, after that you let play the original
from a exact start point, so that the sound don't sound
cheesy by changig the track, use EQ in that things..

yeah, I love it when a DJ takes the time to stuff like
that...I always think if you're getting paid megadollars to
basically play records you should at least do something with
em, rather than just play one after the other (however well
mixed...)...

I really rate Richie Hawtie when it comes to creative
mixing....The minimal hypnotic grooves he can get out of the
303/909/Efx & tracks is amazing....

I was just listening to his last mix CD on my way to work.
He is a clever bloke and uses his mellon when mixing.

yeah, plastikman definitely takes mixing to the next level,
and on top of it, he does not overintelectualise, it still
is funky.

Agreed, the Groove is always there...even when it's only a
single drum machine and a couple of fuzzed-out bleeps, he
never forgets the FUNK!!!...
