Any mixtape that starts with Stephanie Tanner Surprise is
essential

2006 was bitchin' for music.

Dubstep was still good and American teenagers hadn't yet
misappropriated the genre name to incorrectly apply to
Complextro.

BIYC was in full effect and had new releases on a weekly
basis.

Pycho blew the BoC fans away with the seminal Psychadelic
Lovesong's Children. Even the Hatorz loved the Music836.com
track, Online.

Hanal got some 'one of a kind' exclusive vinyl.

KnightRaver and the Remerge Records Cru were tearing up
dancehalls and fibre optic lines with their 'back to the old
skool' hits.

Even Xanpha called in from time to time with his 'proper
band' which was pretty good, even if I missed his ambient
work.

Soulseek was still around and worked pretty well most of the
time.

Xltronic was only about 74% trolling and only 89% off
topic.

Proper AAA IDM from the big Warp artists had already stopped
of course, but it was recent enough since their respective
last hits, that we still all felt that it was inevitable it
would be good once more.

Nikki Minaj was still making shit music, but wasn't yet
hogging the airwaves with it.

Britney was largely still in remission and what she did
release was pretty good. At least as lapdancing music.

Slsk is still more or less reliable i find, especially for
more obscure stuff. Also nice to chat with a few online
mates.

More importantly though, she still had a sense of fashion
compared to the trash she's walking around in now
