now that we have had a year to digest confield, how has it
aged?

for me it has improved with every listen.

i found when i bought the record i preferred tracks like
Eidetic and the more easy listening ( so too speak ) on the
album... nowadays when i listen too it, which is still a
damn lot, i look forward more too the really obscure tracks

it has grown a lot on me over the year, and it's become one
of my most beloved albums. also agree with teapot; the
dense, complex tracks on confield, are usually the most
rewarding ones.

Confield is one of the coolest and futuristic albums i have
ever heard.
They are way ahead of everybody else.

Also a year on from double figure. I brought that in the
same week it came out, and it seems rather disapointing to
me. Kind of cheesy.

i really didnt like it when i heard most of it on mp3, but i
think i'm going to go and buy it for fun, albums that are
incredibly difficult to get into can be very rewarding

Some people on this board are pretty fanatical about them. I
quite like not for threes and advance, but double figure
just doesnt do it for me like other artists do. Download
some stuff by them, it wont hurt.

most of their tracks seem very samey. their better work
seems to be the remixes they do for other people. maybe it's
just me.

just when i thought i'd mined every jem from the dark depths
of the thing called Confield, put on some headphones and
still hearing new things. Genius. One of the best musics of
all time.

yes, confield + headphones = magic.

i love how no matter how many times i hear Cfern, i can't
memorize it.

after almost a year since it was released, a lot more people
no enjoy and appreciate confield. but what do you think is
the weakest track on there?

the only track i often skip is Lentic catachresis. very
impressive at first, though.

i say the first half is stronger than the second half. i'd
have to agree with u about the weakest track, at first
Lentic was very impressive indeed.
What's your least favorite track? mine is Bine.

i skip only sim gishel.... up till recently i thought it was
completely abstract, but i found a vague resemblance of a
melody, which, sadly, disappears after about 4 minutes....

I didn't like it a couple of months ago, and it led me to
believe Autechre is overrated, but now I love it. Gets
better with every listen, so the old cliche goes...

yes this album gets much better with every listen. I
think bine is the weakest track.

This is what Q mag said about it last year.

"The Mancunian duo's sixth album, but their first since Thom
Yorke started going on about them, so automatically their
highest-profile. Along with Richard "Aphex Twin" James and
Depth Charge's J. Saul Kane, Autechre are arguably the most
admired by their contemporaries - the truculent,
limelight-shunning 606-programmers' truculent,
limelight-shunning 606-programmers - and Confield has an
aptly academic air. Opener VI Scose Poise is a microscopic
ambient study, electronic instruments emulating found sounds
like the distant clatter of 3am binmen or raindrops on an
aluminium plate. Pen Expers is what it must be like when
computers have a kung-fu fight. Melody turns up when it
feels like it in the form of minimal, piano-ish triads, but
it is not the point of Confield. Hard to say what is,
really."

I wonder how many times they listened to it....

when i listen to lentic catachresis i always picture that
droid from the hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy going insane
and eventually dying slowly, his gibbering fading into a
gray abyss....

but that's prolly just me :)
