[help] Setting up M Audio Trigger Finger

I'm running windows 8. I have Abelton 8 Live. Driver CD
wont read, not sure which driver to get online, due to the
Win 8 issue. Enigma is not included but a program called Pro
Sessions sound + loop libraries is on disk.

Any geniuses able to list instructions or etc? Please and
thank you.

it doesn't look like you actually should need any drivers to
get it working - the manual only says they're required if
you want it to interact with multiple applications at once.

you should just plug it in and have it automatically show up
under midi devices in ableton, just like most other midi
interfaces.

Use the driver from Windows 7 in the appropriate 32bit or
64bit version.

Upon plugin:

USB Device not recognized.

Tried with both 32 and 64 for Win 7.p

Perhaps a downgrade, but I am not familiar with links or
such to do that either.

sounds like you may have a busted unit, because it should
have class-compliant drivers already in windows that
automatically recognize it.

from the manual:

"Basic Installation
Because it is a class-compliant device, installing the
Trigger Finger on your Windows XP or Mac OS X computer is
simple and straightforward:
• Use the supplied USB cable to connect the Trigger
Finger to a USB port on your computer and you’ll be ready
to go! You can do this while the computer is on
or off, and no further driver installation will be
necessary.

Installing the Windows Multi-client Driver
While class-compliancy offers easy setup and connection of
the Trigger Finger, the Windows class driver is
deficient in that only a single application, or
program, can
use the Trigger Finger at any given time. For many users
this is perfectly acceptable, as they will be using the
Trigger Finger to communicate with their host audio
application only."

Unplug it. Install the 64bit driver for Windows 7. Plug it
in. Start Ableton Live.

Still not recognizing it, spookyluke, with the notification
window that pops up upon inserting the usb end.
the led is on and all the pads knobs and sliders register a
value on the device. wont even bother opening abelton if its
not recognizing it though.

Ableton will probably recognize it. Or in Live's
preferences, find control surface and set it to something
similar if your device isn't listed.

Its on there and I set it, though it wasn't linking from
hardware thru to software. It only showed that it was
working on the hardware end. Nothing going into the PC other
than the fact that it wasn't recognizing whatever was coming
through the usb. Im crying :(

launchpad anyway :P

They look so un-natural to play, unlike soft square gridpad.
I'd take the mpd26 back in a heartbeat though. If this wont
work on windows 7 ill have to do just that.

again, pretty sure you've got a busted unit which, unless
you bought second-hand, you should be able to return.
everything i can find leads me to believe it should "just
work" in windows.

I got it at a pawn shop for 100 bucks cause it was clean. 30
day warranty for "repairs or exchange only"

a midi figher is not pressure sensitive so it is useless for
druming.

also, lol @ win8

Welp the unit isn't busted. My friend got it plugged into
his laptop, a bit older with Win 7, but it all linked up
fine in FL Studio, despite latency issues. Perhaps M Audio
will develop a driver for the new OS if there is any such
demand.

mad zach and his brother would beg to differ

personally i've had an mpd (with big fat pads and
sensitivity corx) and launchpad for the last year+ and
actually found i prefer finger drumming on the launchpad
with no velocity sensitivity.
