here is my problem. I have donwloaded some vst plugins, one
of which is a drum sequencer. It all works great, appart for
the fact that i cant record whatever i did on the sequencer
into its audio track. whenever i press record, the pattern
plays in sync with the timeframe, but nothing gets recorded.

Can anybody help?

route the output to an dedicated audio track and record on
that.

Cheers man! That had actually crossed my mind to be honest,
but i lost patience in trying to figure out how to make it
happen, and i wasn't sure if this was the answer. I guess
i'll have to re-test my patience with it, unless somebody
can find the words to explain it. Cubase really isn't the
easiest software to try to understand, but im getting there.

I can record everything else... It's just these sequencers
which i really enjoy using.

It would be the same in Ableton.

I use live aswell, but i want to learn cubase.
This is a pretty useless solution, but thanks for half
trying.

read the vst manual? maybe it can be controlled via midi in
notes i.e. C5 triggers pattern1 C#5 pattern2, etc

i found my answer... Audio mixdown, then put the wav file
in there to have the audio wave... success!!!

Thank you lads for your tips :)

do not think there is a way to route from bus to input for
rec, unless you use an internal patch bay ( or route out the
sound card and back in,) but then you'd have to compensate
for the latency. Yes audio mix down is best. I do not think
your missing any feature for recording the output in
realtime? unless its on the latest version? you can insert a
plugin on the master to record, but well, whatever audio
mixdown is cool.

Wrong as usual freqy, you send the output of your VSTi track
to a bus, then create an audio track and set its input to
the same bus.

This sounds exactly like what i should be doing... I could
do it on Ableton, but i haven't figured it out yet on cubase
im afraid... Sometimes, going the indirect way makes for a
more particular sound. I like to mix things up anyway.
thanks jiv
