weirdest thing....i have dreamt i was in a van gogh painting.....it was so glorious.....and then i FIND this quote by the master....so sad....so misunderstood during his lifetime.....*weeps for him*
I dream my painting, and then I paint my dream. -Vincent van Gogh, artist
(1853-1890)
*sorry for my outburst, but van gogh's work is very special to me* enjoy =0)

That's beautiful. What's your connection with van Gogh? Do you just really enjoy his story, or is there more to it?

heheh no connection except the connection one feels with a fellow human being. =0)
his story should be read if you want to know the whole story of his sad yet beautiful life......the love between him and his brother...his tortured life.....i really recommend reading the letters between him and his brother theo.
i visited their graves outside of paris....and i visited the south of france....arles....avignion.....st remy...where van gogh painted. then i went to amsterdamn to see his work there.....gosh i can talk for days about him.....it's nuts. i had my nose practically pressed up against the glass looking at his brush strokes....yes i know it's nuts
i'm an artist too (well i have a degree and so i may feel that connection as well)
forgive my chattering =)

yea, van gogh's paintings are mindblowing. however, if i'd had to choose a favourite, it'd be Kandinsky. i really like Malevich (Malevitj) too.

ahhhh photography.....i've dabbled in that a bit, especially black and white photography. i have a whole series...and don't think i'm morbid....of photos of cemetary tombs and gates that surround them. i took a lot of them whilst i was in new orleans. they are photo's i'm quite proud of.
i have MANY favourite buildings and architects. i have this fascination with skyscrapers....i've tried to visit the 20 tallest structures in the world. i think i have about 12 clicked off so far.
a few favourite architects and buildings....which i've talked about before on this MB are.....
- villa savoy - sagrata familia - crysler building - john hancock building - falling water - guggenheim .....bilbao
architectes - gehry - gaudi - van der rohe - pei - corbu
what are some of your favourites...buildings and architects??
