fucking gash, this is precisely the type of 'impressive
glitchy' garbage that mongs get into because they have no
concept and context of good music whatsoever. what the fuck

I feel sorry for the young Richard James, imagining music
twenty years in the future, new tools, new concepts shared
and people make crap regurgitated shite like this.

I'm annoyed now!

I was trying to watch the tv and go to bed.

90% of electronic music to be made in the next 20 years will
be completely redundant wrt what's already released.

yes, my faith in the past is completely restored.

Yes the past was better.

Or not. Art history is made by a few avant garde artists,
while the rest of the produced art is followers. Always been
that way, always will be.

dear octo octa,

dont listen to those grumpy old guys, having shitty jobs
like being mixing assistant for boring productions or
sitting in the office all day.

if you have fun doing what you do, its the best that can
happen. if you forget yourself while doing it, u are lucky!

"learn to say “Fuck You” to the world once in a while.
You have every right to. Just stop thinking, worrying,
looking over your shoulder wondering, doubting, fearing,
hurting, hoping for some easy way out, struggling, grasping,
confusing, itchin, scratching, mumbling, bumbling,
grumbling, humbling, stumbling, numbling, rumbling,
gambling, tumbling, scumbling, scrambling, hitching,
hatching, bitching, moaning, groaning, honing, boning,
horse-shitting, hair-splitting, nit-picking, piss-trickling,
nose sticking, ass-gouging, eyeball-poking, finger-pointing,
alleyway-sneaking, long waiting, small stepping,
evil-eyeing, back-scratching, searching, perching,
besmirching, grinding, grinding, grinding away at yourself.
Stop it and just DO!"

seems easy to read, and phantasize about. but you have to do
it. everyday. with all the boring parts in it.

"I have an “Agonizing Reappraisal” of my work and change
everything as much as possible = and hate everything I’ve
done, and try to do something entirely different and better.
Maybe that kind of process is necessary to me, pushing me on
and on. The feeling that I can do better than that shit I
just did. Maybe you need your agony to accomplish what you
do. And maybe it goads you on to do better. But it is very
painful I know. It would be better if you had the confidence
just to do the stuff and not even think about it. Can’t
you leave the “world” and “ART” alone and also quit
fondling your ego. I know that you (or anyone) can only work
so much and the rest of the time you are left with your
thoughts. But when you work or before your work you have to
empty your mind and concentrate on what you are doing. After
you do something it is done and that’s that. After a while
you can see some are better than others but also you can see
what direction you are going. I’m sure you know all that.
You also must know that you don’t have to justify your
work – not even to yourself."

offline RussellDust on 2011-09-04 01:08 [#02420224]
Points: 16053 Status: Lurker

So you're not justifying yourself in any way....right?

that's two massive chunks of childlike shite you've laid
now.

"oooo don't worry. forget others, be yourself..yaaaaay"

ace. had never thought of that.

maybe you should try being a child sometimes. and start
playing like you did. i saw guys programming synthesizers,
knowing every part of it. not being able to make any good
sound with it. then i saw kids playing around with it,
making crazy stuff.

thats what i always liked about aphex. hes programming
soemthing, and then he can come back to the state of playing
around with it like a child.

and what i said relates to who im talking to. and i thought
im talking to reflective people.

and now i want to

dance

It's lovely that you're still here. I dunno how you manage
to come back. But you do, and thank you for that! if it
wasn't for you and a few others, this place would be
worthless.

I remember talking to you about 8 years ago about your
avatar. Which is still the same! I saw the same one with a
blue sweater on some site a while ago. i wondered if it was
you! no idea where it was though. nothing to do with music.

I see what you mean (not counting the aphex bit). Nothing
new there my friend. I'm surrounded by musos and they admit
that the knowledge they have can sometimes be a bit
crippling. Sometimes people with little musical know-how can
do lovely sounding things. But you should stop the whole
"lecture" stance. It's boring.

offline DADONCK from here on 2011-09-04 02:03 [#02420233]
Points: 3526 Status: Regular

if its sounds like a lecture im sorry. i dont like lectures
either. its also not, that i want to tell "wise" things.
like u said, its all obvious stuff. i didnt find any magical
way within the last 8 years.

and everything i told you, i also have to tell myself. all
the time. ive never been a natural "dont worry be happy"
guy. never.

but i think if people who are as reflective and observant as
many of the guys in this forum, try to let it go. then
awesome stuff could get out of it.

and the stuff in the "" is from this. a letter that
i like.
