smoking accelerates the process of dying. which can be a good thing. especially when your old and your body is worn out. smoking keeps you from having to go through the end game where your body is basically empty, but your heart just keeps on pounding beat after beat.

but, my good sir, you are missing that it might make your process of dying more painful than it usually might be

there are pills for those things.
from an economic perspective, everyone should starts smoking again. smoking pays the taxes. and because people die younger and the dying process is quicker, lots of healthcare-costs is saved. (after 65 healthcare costs rise rapidly, whether people smoke or not). and it saves some 404 too.

kinda.
i know it sounds politically incorrect, but there are still a lot of taboo's when it comes to life after people hit their 80's. you might want to walk into one of those elderly institutions and ask people whether they want a fatal injection or not. you'd be amazed what you get back. but hey, pro-life is the politically correct thing, right?

200 years ago, life expectancy was under 40, so being 80 now is nuts. That's like if in 200 years, you walk into a nursing home and ask the 150 year olds if they want to die. But actually they will be watching American Idol 9000 with lazer dildoz in their nipples.

once when i waited for the bus in hollywood a woman approached me. she was in her 40s, had thin blonde hair, rotten teeth and a mad look in her eyes. she sat down on the bench next to me and said: "i always go to the bus-stop to smoke, cause they ain't got no benches anywhere else." being the friendly person i am, i indulged in small-talk and said to her: "well, at least smoking is allowed here, i just came from santa monica where it's banned."
then she explained to me that politicans ban smoking, because smoking cigarettes is a necessary requirement for rational thinking. once you stop smoking, you lose the power of reasoning and the ruling class will be able to exploit you. then she went on to say: "you're a nice guy. but i am sorry. you're not smoking so soon you will become like them, too."
to which i replied "oh well, i do smoke actually." so she said: "proove it!" and handed me a cigarette. so i took her cigarette, was a bit scared that it might contract a disease from it, but lit it and smoke it.
the moral of the story is: i stopped smoking a couple of moths ago and these things will not happen to me anymore.
