10 seconds of the clip got more to it than the entire track. it's stereotypical but still visually appealing. i had to ignore the track though. |

It's rare nowadays that I get upset or angry, but watching that vid kinda pissed me off. Like when the fuck is that track supposed to play? If you're gonna be pop, at least have good hooks and shit, with melodic sense that spans wider than 1 octave, and if you're gonna be spiritual/nu-age whatever, have supplementary themes or possibly key changes, in order to give reference points for the main emotive content (basically listen to 100 nu-age tracks, and don't do any of it). That track is just such watery and uninspired, soul-lacking ballz. When coupled with the weak narrative of the video, the whole thing is a failure with regard to aesthetic solidity and a failure in conveying any more thematic depth than is presented in the first ~30 seconds. What's disgusting to me is how refined all the mediocrity is. Refined mediocrity does not equal anything greater than mediocre. A bland person can wear nice clothes, but this is more like a bland person covering themselves in lacquer and butter, walking around with a personal spotlight; former bland person can be casually attractive, the latter bland person will bring feelings of disgust. Way too much implied, way too little delivered. And Delphic- if any of you are reading this from checking out where people are watching your vid from- I have nothing against you all or the music. It's just not that good. Though I'm sure the ether thanks you for the effort, as do your fans. |
