goldeneye - it looks shit. all people wanted was a port of
the original

Goldeneye is surprisingly good, although I can't come to
grips with using the Wiimote to play an FPS. It has nothing
to do with the original (which is an unplayable fiasco now
anyway), but I liked the campaign. A lot of the missions are
designed to allow for (but not force) pure stealth and
non-rechargeable health, can't ever get enough of that shit.

how is the original an 'unplayable fiasco'?

The mechanics and AI just don't hold up in the campaign, and
I never liked the "rat with a gun in a maze" multiplayer
designs even back then. Nothing left for me but nostalgia
now, but I still respect the game and think more games
should employ some of the non-linear objective based mission
design from its campaign. The new one has some elements of
objective hunting along with the freeform stealth. I was
afraid it was going to just be a CoD clone.

Sadist- yes, I bought the bundle with the gold controller. I
started playing with the Wiimote and could never find a
setting that allowed me to turn on a dime, though I like the
aiming. After two levels I just said fuck it and used the
controller.

hmm maybe you're right - rose tinted spectacles and all
that. I havent played it in maybe 6/7 years so i couldn't
objectively comment on how it holds up, but in my mind i
still want it to be great. I guess it is easier to look
more favourably on that which you are nostalgic for.

I do have to disagree on the multiplayer though. on 'licence
to kill' mode that was a true game of skill.
