ICP are actually very smart. At the very least they have intelligence in one area and that's making money in their own unique way. It's funny that they have come out as Christian because they use the same tactics Christians use to secure power, money and followers: Promotion of ignorance, in-group solidarity created by out-group hostility (fear), and lying/fraud. They most likely have enough money to retire from any kind of work for the rest of their lives, living quite comfortably as well. And this is all cleverly engineered not by quality music, but by offering the very absolute fringe of youth society a scene and movement geared solely to them. Even these asbos have money to spend and an overwhelming want to fit in. ICP aren't stupid, they're geniuses. |

For example, just because science explains a certain phenomenon, lets say, music, love, or drugs, doesnt make these things any less valuable or beautiful. I was not trying to imply that you personally dislike them in order to fit into a particular group. However, since that laughably comical Miracles video went meme, I would postulate that most people on non-juggalo-based internetz forums would find it socially beneficial to take an anti-ICP stance, regardless of their actual amount of exposure to ICP's music. I understand your philosophical point, and agree with it. Science doesn't take the beauty out of anything. Science itself is only the process of trying to disprove a hypothesis. A scientific explanation is merely a "standing" hypothesis, yet to be disproven; whereas beauty is something ingrained and subjective that speaks to the human condition. I definitely don't share ICP's world view, but I can appreciate their cartoonish nature and find more enjoyment in the bulk of their work than probably any other rap artist, save for Kool Keith. |
