Jazz and techno?

I am not a professor of musicology, but fuck me, if these
genres do not have something in common.
I am talking about the melodies and chords, which seem very
familiar to me as listener of booth genres.
I would love to know, theoretically, where the similarities
are?

The Aphex Twins are a techno band, but the lead singer is a
black man who plays trumpet, so maybe that's where you're
getting the connection from?

Are they racists?

Apparently they are best friends. Tyrone is the trumpet
player from Queens, but he is the only black man of the 17
member group.

It's cool cuz they play step dub, bass n' drum, and house
trance, but they mix it with hard ambient and bebop.

indeed. listen to St. Germain for proof. electronic music
can be any genre of music actually.

except strictly acoustic music ex. folk with just harmonica,
voice, and acoustic guitar or ukelele. but music is either
natural(birds, trains, cars), acoustic, or electric

That's redundant. All sounds from nature are acoustic
sounds.

jazz harmony has never been separate from popular music as
we understand it.

my mate says:

jazz played by the greats is pure soul.

techno is people playing with one finger and then stumbling
on a loop by accident and looping it more, then playing some
more one fingered shite and looping that on top and tweaking
it a bit in cubase then saying "that is my track."

jazz is soul direct to your soul...if you care enough to
hear.

techno you need ecstasy and other drugs to get off on it
cause its empty.

please someone link to some tracks that you feel might
change his mind.

There are lot of 7ths in there that I don't mind but it's
hardly blue note expression. Freqy is a cock anyway.

Completely different style of music, despite their
similarities. My point was that these tracks/artists
capture "soul" into their music quite well. Most of these
tracks are Detroit-Influenced, which was heavily influenced
by Jazz back in its heyday.

Did you hear that Daft Punk will be playing at Disneyland on
October the 8th for the Tron opening?

Not really, just news.

Are you talking from a state based origin of music or a
technical one?

Actually I don't understand that question! Anyway, I'm
right, you are wrong, freqy is a cock and I have the 13th
note somewhere.

Jazz was mainly in good old times inspired by Indian (from
India) Native Music, and upgraded by first black poor
musicians into Blues. From Blues the music became more
sophisticated and within some years the JAZZ music came out
and conquered the world. The meaning of word JAZZ was SEX.
From that time a lot of musical genres of modern times were
inspired by JAZZ music, not only Techno or other Ilectronic
music styles. The whole modern musical industry came from
JAZZ music, but as I said Indian music was at the real
beggining. Peace

Robert Glasper and Ahmad Jamal are the only artists i am a
bit familiar with. But mostly i listen to the jazz stations
on satilite radio. I am not sure what they are playing

i didn't know robert glasper, just by listening to samples
of his albums and considering ahmad jamal i believe you
would like brad mehldau, eric reed, bill carrothers and
esbjörn svensson. i am a big fan of jazz far more than any
other genre. if today you would ask me which genre would you
pick to stay and that every other genre would be gone
forever, without having any doubt in my mind, i would pick
jazz. i am a big fan of aphex twin, squarepusher and such,
but they never took the same place that jazz took in my
heart.
