anything that defines itself so rigidly sows its own seeds of death. unless it allows a fluid definition of what it is, it will be over before soon. and the attitude of those here in relation to new electronic music is sympomatic of this inflexibility. the music doesn't need a label like warp or planet mu, it just needs people who are going to self organise and make their own lines of distribution. i'm looking at the juke music scene in chicago right now, dj rashad, rp boo, dj spinn, and thinking that there are seriously amazing things happening in electronic music. meanwhile i come back to this board, only to be greeted by a bunch of moaning cunts! keep making music, keep your ears open and if there is a community there to bounce ideas off and be critically engaged with, then there is the potential to shit to start popping off. that could be here on this board, it's up to everyone. fuck. |
